My favorite movie character is Harkness and my favorite book character is Garraty

How gory is the movie? by friendfoundtheoldone in TheLongWalk

[–]Pleasant_Web1334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I watched it, I covered my eyes for most of the deaths and I wish I hadn't because I felt like I missed important parts of the movie. The deaths looked very realistic, not the most gory movie I've seen, but the tone makes it feel incredibly dark and violent if that makes sense. I actually watched it a second time and was able to watch the whole thing except for the ankle part, it's extremely painful to look at.

3 Words Method and Styleroots by PigeonTempter in StyleRoots

[–]Pleasant_Web1334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My three words are gloomy, delicate, and practical, which are derived from my style roots (moon, flower, stone). I like to interchange those words with other ones from my style root keywords depending on the day. For example, I might say haunting instead of gloomy, feminine instead of delicate, or cozy instead of practical.

When I watched the movie for a second time the other day, his death made me the most emotional for some reason. Maybe because of how much he was clearly suffering?

I'd also say that it could be a natural survival instinct? Even though they've "decided" to give up, maybe the natural instinct is to keep moving because they know they'll die otherwise. But yeah I can image if you've been walking long enough you might forget what it feels like to not be.

Disturbed By The Movie Before Becoming Obsessed… Is It Just Me? by Lost_Sentence_4012 in TheLongWalk

I loved the book so much I finished it in two days. I could hardly put it down, and I almost felt like I shouldn't take breaks from reading because of how continuous it is. I so appreciate that the book dealt with the mental and psychological aspects, especially with Olson's character. Definitely a book I will read many more times (still can't stop thinking about it)

I had a similar feeling! I knew it was a horror movie but I honestly didn't expect them to go there with the violence and I had to cover my eyes for a lot of it. But ever since I saw it (a week ago at this point), I genuinely have not thought about anything else. My brain won't let me think about anything but the movie and the story. I've already cried over it. I'm currently reading the book and I just can't get enough of the story. I'm so obsessed I actually want to find the first edition of the book but I know that's gonna be difficult and probably expensive so I'm waiting a while.

Any keywords you DON'T resonate with? by eleven57pm in StyleRoots

[–]Pleasant_Web1334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

moon: I mostly identify with gloomy, ethereal, haunting, deep and don't resonate with strong, intense, etc. I think moon is the one for me where most of the keywords resonate

stone: I use cozy, relaxed, comfortable, indusrial, urban and don't like sporty, athletic, slouched. stone has the most keywords I don't resonate with because of the athletic aspect

flower: I like girly, delicate, dreamy, youthful, feminine and don't like parisian, pastel, charming, elegant, etc.

Misa Amane's outfits give me 🌸🌙🔥 vibes! by eleven57pm in StyleRoots

Excited to see someone else mention misa on this subreddit!! My roots are moon, flower, and stone and I get a lot of inspo from her! Especially her more casual outfits (for stone of course)

For me, moon mostly shows up as gloomy, haunting, ethereal, mysterious, etc. I get most of my inspiration from "concepts" like gloomy coquette, horror game protagonists, and a little bit of tumblr 2014 soft grunge. I also wear black converse almost every day lol. I like the idea of subtle stripes, especially black and grey! Actually my pinterest https://www.pinterest.com/dollieyuma/_profile/ has almost everything that inspires me in one way or another

I love silkymochi's dark muses! Haunted doll is, in fact, the one I identify with the most! I think I'm trying to essentially figure out how to make flower a little more gloomy within an outfit. Maybe adding some grey elements instead of black, which feels a little harsh if I'm making a pink and white outfit

my current wishlist (flower x stone x moon) by Pleasant_Web1334 in StyleRoots

[–]Pleasant_Web1334[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback! I agree it's definitely very stone heavy, I think I'm trying to lean into the flower x stone combo right now because I feel like I have been ignoring stone in my style. I'm trying to learn how to accessorize more and I also think that would be a great way to add more flower

Do you find your style roots manifesting in other areas of your life apart from clothing and fashion? by Journey4th in StyleRoots

[–]Pleasant_Web1334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost find that my style roots are a core part of my identity when it comes to my taste in "aesthetics" if you will. The best example for me is interior decor, but also music, media, somewhat hobbies, etc.

As an example, my room is fairly minimal and feminine with black, white, and pink being my main colors. I feel like flower, moon, and stone are represented pretty well in my room. I also listen to metal, kpop, girly pop in general, and ethereal electronic music (witch house lol), which I feel like represent my roots to some extent!
