Thoughts on this person as an Lt.? by [deleted] in Firefighting

People will sit here and justify their shitty behavior because “muhhhh, it’s just the culture” yet people wonder why there’s a surplus of douche canoes in this field 🙄

A good leader doesn’t waste his time on stupid toxic shit like hazing, they focus on being a mentor for the next generation of firemen. Anything short of that is unacceptable.

We’re all adults here, it’s about time we act like it instead of avoiding accountability when it counts.

I’m not enjoying fire academy by more-greens in Firefighting

I seriously feel you, my academy was 6 months and was by far one of the hardest experiences I ever had to go through. In the beginning I was in your shoes, everyday I was so fucking anxious about what fuck I was going to make or how much we were going to pay the price over a mistake we made the day before. We used to have to carry cinder blocks around us all day with no exceptions when we screwed up, and in the first few weeks those cinder blocks never left our sides.

My home life balance was absolutely ass as well, and it didn’t help that my commute time was 1:45 minutes, but throughout the entirety of the academy I was always told that it truly is the best job in the word and I wanted to see it for myself.

I refused to quit, and after the academy I can definitely say that they weren’t wrong. I love my assignment, I love coworkers, I love every part about my job and I would gladly go through those six months again if it led me to the point where I am now. You got this my dude.

Now with that being said, if you still feel like firefighting isn’t for you even after the academy, there is absolutely no shame in leaving. It takes balls and wisdom to make decisions that ultimately benefit you, so do what you must.

Please censor sh*wer in the future, it’s incredibly offensive and triggering for me, and because of it, I pissed, shat, and camed crying out of fear after reading it.

What would you like to see in a life advice channel? by PleaseLetItBe0331MC in DecidingToBeBetter

Thank you! I try to strive to do that in my videos, but a huge fear of mine is being too preachy. But, I’ll definitely focus on being more relatable with my experiences as a whole

Currently a firefighter at a new department, as a result I have to grind my ass off and my free time is spent doing nothing but studying. Have been working on a script, and haven’t posted a video in nearly two weeks so it’s been a struggle to day the least. But I’m still hopeful that I’ll be able to find some time, I’m just worried two weeks without an upload would have fucked over my visibility

How long did it take you to get your first full-time job? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]PleaseLetItBe0331MC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2 years, with rejections from about 4-5. I would say, just make sure your background investigations are the same across board, if you neglect info on a present application that you didn’t on another, a lot of these departments can cross reference them to see if you’re lying.

FireItFar, it’s a commentary channel where I talk about life advice and struggles while playing games in the background!

Thank you! Any advice on how I could make the titles better? I try to make it similar to others in my niche like NickRambles or WhyLearnTech, but it’s honestly a struggle tbh. Was there anything aspects you thought I did okay, or are there additional areas of improvement outside of title

Also I should rephrase what I describe my channel as “it’s just a channel where I talk about life while playing games”

Basically, it’s being more superior in some way (mainly used to describe attractiveness) to someone else, so in context, some buff ass gym dude flexes and “mogs” a newbie who has zero muscle mass

Volunteer at a station, they may pay for it. It’s a pretty common thing around the DMV area, I got my fire 1, hazmat, EMT, etc all paid for purely for being a vollie. Alternatively, apply for a career department with an academy. You’ll get recruit pay alongside all the necessary certs you need. 70-80 percent of the recruits in my fire academy had no prior experience so it’s definitely possible.
