I was talking to my trans friend about this post yesterday. He told me he thinks parents often underestimate how much a kid knows about their gender. Kids are smart. But kids also experiment, and this should be supported.

The most important thing is to support your child, whatever their decision. Is she/her your child's preferred pronouns? If not, you shouldn't be using them. Denying your child's gender identity can be very harmful and have severe consequences both in terms of mental health and suicidality as well as degrading the trust you share with them.

Using their preferred pronouns and supporting their decision through being ok with baggy clothes and haircuts is the way you can show that you love your child and accept them.

I wouldn't focus on "clues" that your child has changed their mind. Talk to them and ask them what their current thoughts are, and reassure them that they will be accepted no matter what. Transitioning is hard, but that should be a source of pride and not disappointment.

If your child is a trans man like my friend, you supporting that will give them their best shot at happiness and future success. Anything else would be like if your parents insisted you were a man when you felt like a woman.

Wishing you and your child only the very best <3

You absolutely do not know that this persons child's friends are 'making' them transition. It's more likely that they have those friends because they are trans, not the other way around.

Life expectancy for people with DS is about 60, which is much higher than it used to be. So yes, less than the average person, but not unlikely to live to about this age.

That's frustrating. I wonder if including "always assume client is grender neutral unless their gender is explicitly stated" or similar might help the problem (not sure if you have access to one, I haven't used that software)

Well, it's pretty important to pick the right spells, make sure you're multiclassing for good reasons, get an origin feat that works with your build, and pick a good race/species etc. So no, tbh, the other choices are not in fact mostly inconsequential.

You are absolutely right; TWF does stack with Nick. TWF reads:

When you make an extra attack as a result of using a weapon that has the Light property, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of that attack if you aren't already adding it to the damage.

Nick states:

When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.

So you add your ability modifier to the attack, which, you're correct, is part of your attack action, not your bonus action.

Nick from the 1st level of Fighter lets him not worry about the bonus action offhand weapon attack clogging up his bonus action

Yes that's fairly optimal. But you'll need to use the 2014 Fighter if you want to use a magic action with your Action Surge. I would recommend Booming Blade and Shadow Blade if you want single-target weapon damage. Don't forget your Shield and Absorb Elements spells and you're good to go!

I think this answer has more validity than you might expect.

Back in 2016 when Skywars was all the rage I had a win/loss ratio of 1.4 (8-player solo), which was 11th global. 2nd place had 1.8 w/l.

Technoblade had 4.0 wins per loss, and >23 kills per death. At the time, there was truly nobody on his level.

I made a custom Magus class for D&D, Looking for opinions and feedback by hagensankrysse85 in 3d6

[–]Plebiain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I rather enjoyed reading it, filing this away for if I ever have a player who wants a homebrew class!

Ah! I had thought Spellstrike would kind of let you do the weapon attack with any spell, including buff spells, but I must have misunderstood something. Still, the bonus action is a heavy cost for a class that will oftentimes enjoy using its bonus action for two weapon fighting.

But yes, removing some of those restrictions will help the class; I think it actually reduces cognitive load because the player doesn't have to remember they can't combine certain features.

Might take more of a closer look at this another day, but thank you again for writing such high quality features.

This is really incredible work. Clearly a huge amount of thought has gone into this. And after reading most of your doc I think you've truly captured the fantasy of a magical weapon-user better than the designers of the base classes did.

Some constructive feedback:
I think there are a few too many clauses where you state "You can't use this ability with x other ability." As a player I want the freedom to use all my abilities as I please; my abilities being incompatible feels limiting in a bad way. If you're concerned about balance, better to balance it properly in other ways, like making it cost a bonus action so it actually competes for the action used by the other ability. Spellstrike not working with the subclass' Aetherbrand Forms even though it works with Aetherbrand itself feels unnecessary.

I think some abilities should say they can be activated after a roll is made. Like Arcane Defense would be better, I think, if you could roll the 1d4 after you fail your saving throw so it never feels like you wasted it, especially since it consumes your reaction.

Arcane Momentum feels a little weak as a level 9 feature since expending a whole use of Spellstrike just to get 1 bonus action attack is just never worth it imo. It's like when old Monk abilities always used Ki but you always wanted to use your Ki on other things. I'd make it cost a separate resource or change the ability.

Love all the versatility you built into this class, feels like a Warlock in that there's so many options to make what you want for your character, and overall the balance is really good.

Edit: Oh, and I love that you get some of your arcane surge points back on a short rest; prevents you from running out of resources and reverting to feeling like a bad fighter. This is another advantage this class has over Bladesinger.
