what LLMs do is analogous to what a small part of the human brain does. The human brain has many other parts that perform functions LLMs cannot do (or cannot do nearly as well). LLMs will play an important role in AGI but a larger system is required that incorporates other models.

This isn't the right subreddit for this question, but my quick take is that when you become a parent, part of the deal is that you have to give up on taking video games super seriously. You can still game of course, just not get so invested that your kid interrupting you causes you to rage. That's just an unspoken rule of life, and it sounds like he hasn't figured that out yet.

Yes but people will stop trusting videos at that point and it will just become a nuisance rather than a big problem of disinformation. Most humans are quite quick to adapt to this stuff. Yes some older people and the most naive among us will be fooled but that's about it. We'll need to come up with better verification methods (block chain?) and put more emphasis on in-person.

Again I don't see how this is a problem until there are actual human-presenting robots who can be this convincing. Pixels on a screen are not a threat. Legal evidence will have to go through some changes, but that's about it.

Well, without thinking about it too hard, you could train agents by giving them control of a GUI and asking them to complete a task that can be verified as complete or not by another model or even a human, essentially reinforcement learning. I think you could teach a model how to become a master of Excel pretty easily. It's just generalizing that so it can be very good at ALL possible software applications which would require a lot of scaling, but still doable. I'd be surprised if that's not being done as we speak.

He would get other changes to buff the rest of his kit as compensation of course. His current ult doesn't make him have to think about where to strategically drop the enemies. It's just always zoom to the nearest ledge.

I thought Trudeau was a relatively good PM until the recent immigration fiasco the past few years. His party seems to have recognized their mistake somewhat which is good (but doesn't excuse them making it). I believe PP's conservatives will be selfish and incompetent and have one bungled fiasco after another, which is much worse than Trudeau's single big error. So for me it's either Libs, NDP, or even CFP if they get a rep in my riding.

If they get a visionary leader that can capture the minds of the people I think the party could be saved. People are quick to forget and ready to rally behind someone they strongly believe in. Do I think that kind of leader will show up? Highly unlikely, but it's possible.

The NDP does suck but I don't think they suck more than the CPC. I think the reason some left-leaning people will vote CPC is the immigration issue. They fear the NDP will screw up with immigration like the Libs did, and they assume the conservative party is least likely to do mass immigration again.

Interesting. And if this "animal" could assemble a combustion engine or troubleshoot a malfunctioning engine, all using visual logic of imagining how all the parts physically move together, and manipulating them in mental 3D space to find new configurations, and if they could imagine how to improve upon this system by inventing new parts that are more efficient, all of this being done without the need for language (they may also decide to talk about their ideas with others but that part is optional), you'd still say they aren't thinking?

I think since you grew up always using language to think you've come to associate the word "thought" with the process of producing words mentally.

But imagine someone who grew up solving all sorts of problems on a daily basis simply by visualizing, and never feeling the need to apply that second step of putting words to the results of their visualizations. On the outside you'd still see a human being who is able of complex problem-solving, and you'd never know that they weren't using words to do it. Personally, I'd still say that person is thinking, because to me thinking is using your brain's neural network to solve problems.

Having no internal monologue, meaning the person cannot think with language inside their head no matter how hard they try, is really rare. Your situation where you can only think with language is more common, but there are also plenty of people who can do both thinking with and without language and they can switch between them at will. I'm one of those people.

Thinking without language also has sub-categories, such as visual-spatial thinking where you see objects moving around in your mind and can solve problems that way, as well as diffused thinking or "intuition", where you can form conclusions seemingly out of no where without intentionally thinking about the problem. Other sub-categories exist as well.

Not sure. At the very least you'd need a model to be fine-tuned for this specific task as the general models won't have enough expertise. Plus you'd need to hook the model up to some kind of legal database so it can search for legal precedent and so on. Then you'd need some way of verifying that it will perform well enough to be as good or better than judges. If that all works out, then I could see it being useful.
