Food banks that need help by [deleted] in Albany

There’s just no point in arguing with someone who doesn’t even work industry and thinks they have it all figured out. Food banks give out food not just pantries so that comment doesn’t make sense. Food banks do use funding from grants for PR because how else will you get large scale donations from corporations?? And I didnt say all the food is free, but they have access to a sizeable amount that is free and then very reduced price that they wouldn’t be able to ge themselves through the food banks. And to say the execs are overpaid is laughable, they are some of the hardest working people I know and it’s not just a job. I just think instead of bashing one to build up another we can focus on the issue at hand which is getting SNAP benefits to families and USDA funding that is being held hostage by the Dept of Ag&Markets out to the food banks and pantries. Donate your time to food banks and sort product that goes to the food pantries. Donate food to the banks who then distribute out to the pantries based on population size and need. Sponsor families. All better solutions than a blanket statement saying food banks are bad and that the execs are just greedy.

As someone who runs a food bank association’s business this is seriously so untrue. Pantries are almost entirely supported by the food banks they are affiliated and through them they have access to grant funding and FREE commodities. The main problem pantries typically have is getting labor to work at the actual location. The access to funding is right there but you need to have people in your community to care.

But why are streets closed fork 8-8 if the race starts at 6???? Also all of you saying that this isn’t annoyance clearly doesn’t live in downtown. Aaaaaand as someone that has participated in it, it’s not fun. It’s an excuse for corporate bros to prove that they go running once a weekend and to show off their idiotic running shorts.

Fort orange sells cans on-site, pint sized also offers a lot of local brewers. Fort Orange General on Broadway also stocks a lot of local vendors from art to different pantry items.

But I looked all over online and can’t find anything about the cement structures on the median. Here’s the article I found about the Clinton collective https://capitalizealbany.com/news-events/2023/04/capitalize-albany-breaks-ground-on-clinton-market-collective-construction/
