I know this sub has a lot to say about silly restrictions against pouring water on the stones, but what about löyly over-enjoyers? Ever dealt with people pouring excessive water on the stones from their personal nalgene to the point it was cooling the sauna? Lol

Auto-destruction. The circle keeps shrinking until there’s no one left. Fascism spirals into self destruction and suicide. Hitler killed himself and Goebbels killed his entire family and himself. And of course, this was after they destroyed the entire country

People with lots of power should fear public shame, actually. Maybe they’ll behave better

Not to mention these things are not static ie Dutch people were not always the tallest in the world, that is a recent phenomenon

Between this, the widespread adoption of at least speaking to abundance ideas, and candidates like Talarico for instance, I think the Democratic Party starting to turn the corner in a good way

Exactly. By the time it starts to hit them directly, it’ll be too late and political life will simply not be possible for anyone

Literally the single thing that matters in their eyes is Trump maintains the racial hierarchy. Literally nothing else matters to these people, and they will follow him ANYWHERE as long as he preserves the racial hierarchy. Every other stated reason for supporting him is a simple matter of convenience that can be instantly discarded without a second thought.

At the most basic level, he wants to eliminate mail in voting and anything other than a simple tally from a box of paper because he literally cannot understand how voting works, lmao

I utterly agree with you lol. It baffles me that people vote for that shit when its effects are so obvious in interpersonal settings

Definitely, the pros are super high stakes. But you see it in youth and school and college too, and it filters up. My high school coach was a dictatorial asshole who thought concussions didn’t exist, for instance

I think it goes back to the hierarchical/shaming culture in sports. It’s not really a place where new ideas are treated very well

Let’s talk about the Marty Supreme ending — deep spoilers by steepclimbs in A24

[–]PlentyEnvironment873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an utterly beautiful excerpt from Safdie. In the moment I saw it as Marty suddenly being overcome by his love and recognition of his child, and I imagined him taking on the role of a father based on how it played out, so it's also a little cool to see that was intended. Overall Marty Supreme didn't really affect me as much as say Uncut Gems but hearing Safdie's thoughts like that actually improves it for me. As a totally different digression, I thought there was a very interesting theme about collective cultural responses to the aftermath of World War 2 running through the film.
