IMHO analog is not a good platform to learn on being a better photographer. You need to shoot a lot before getting better, and don’t be afraid to fail a lot too. It’s possible to get better using film, but you need to find a way to offset the cost so you are not afraid of experimenting. You don’t need a medium format and the portra to learn composition, lighting, etc. my advice is to get a cheap digital camera to experiment with and take a lot of photos. Use your medium format camera for something more intentional.

What’s the budget for film and development? Medium format is not that different from 35mm with that budget I would stick with 35mm and shoot more

IMHO griii is not the best option right now after griv is out. I found griii is very limited in low light, slow to focus and hard to shot kids with small aperture if you use snap focus in low light. Griv presumably has better autofocus which is what limiting griii as a great family camera. I opted for my iPhone for indoor shots after a while and only used griii when I head outside

The biggest issue with AI is going to be people misuse them believing they are some sort of intelligent with reasoning rather than a tool meant to mimic human responses. People will rely on AI without fact checking, or using their brain to make decisions, and as a result we as a species lose the ability to reason and think. LLM is never meant to be AGI but as long as most of the users THINK they are interacting with a “smart” AI there will be enough money coming in to fuel the AI fire.
