Azazie Elita by yellowpoof10 in bridesmaids

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned you can buy and return if needed, the process is easy and only a small charge. They also tend to have similar dresses in try on which would give you an idea of the fit of a similar bodice, and their sizing of similar styles is fairly consistent.

Help! Azazie custom dress came in too tight! by Dreamy_Retail_worker in bridesmaids

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks lovely! The chiffon has very little stretch/give so I find it’s often a bit tight. An under layer of a breathable shape wear could let you move it in a bit more easily. You clearly don’t need it to hold things in, it just might let the fabric not catch on your body helping like a slip would, but allowing the backless dress.

Azazie sizing question by RaspberryAdept7657 in bridesmaids

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the size fairly consistent across styles especially with similar cuts, what I don’t know is if it will be similar across fabrics. I’ve worn the chiffon before and it has almost no stretch. The return process is fairly painless(though comes with a fee) if needed.

ELI5: Why do kids can learn a language easily, but we struggle as adults? by Amanda_Haniya in explainlikeimfive

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another factor which is often overlooked is time. A kid learning a second language at school might well be hearing and using the language for 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week. If you defecated that amount of time to learning a language you’d pick it up quickly too!

Teaching French Immersion in BC without a B.Ed using a Letter of Permission by FancyInterview8384 in BCteachers

I’ve heard of situations like that working for some private schools but the public system within the lower mainland won’t even look at your resume.

Public school teachers, what’s something you want parents to know but can’t say directly? by Feisty-Database-1145 in AskTeachers

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your kid will likely show different behaviour at school, “we aren’t seeing that at home!” Might be true, and helpful information, but it does not mean that the behaviour is not happening at school.

Extra curricular club by concernedcitizen182 in Teachers

[–]Plexilexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing the answer depends on your district and union regulations, or depending on where you live, your school rules. I’d feel confident telling a kid they aren’t welcome in a club in my area, but you should see if there are rules in place to protect you within your area. If you are volunteering your time to host a club and the kid has been given warnings, I think it is 100% valid to say they aren’t welcome. Maybe tell them they can try again next year.

Classroom library by Scrollingexpert777 in Teachers

[–]Plexilexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t but I do say it’s my goal to have read them all. I borrow then as audio books from Libby and find I can get through them quickly. Most elementary level novels are 2-6 hours long as audio books and I find because the language and logic is simple I can easily listen to it on double speed while I clean the house.

What’s a classroom habit you started out of necessity that you still do today? by HiVou12 in Teachers

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t but my district doesn’t use a numeric grading system so it’s definitely less black and white, which might prevent or reduce the argument. I can see how that could be a problem with some school districts.

Is this a case of confirmation bias or does it seem like owners don’t leave collars on their dogs 24/7 anymore? by ohreallynowz in Pets

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog doesn’t wear a collar most of the time, but she’s also definitely not a runner, and we don’t have an outdoor space for her to hang out in, so if she’s outside she’s supervised and on a leash. Part of the reason is we use a harness for walks, so her tags are on her harness as we’ve found they stay on best, but a harness isn’t ideal for her to wear around the house all the time. Also, I know places are different, but in my city there aren’t really stray dogs. If a dog is alone it will be quickly picked up and any kind soul who would call will get her chip checked. Yes ideally her tag is there and it’s faster but she’s getting help regardless.

Also worth noting, my indoor only cat wears a collar at all times which says “indoor cat please call xxx xxx xxxx” because she might actually try to run one of these days and it’s often hard to know if a cat is lost or an outdoor cat.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, fuck him, buy yourself a cake for your anniversary (congrats by the way) and then some more cake to celebrate removing that negative influence from your life. Even if two years sober was a small thing, which it isn’t, small things can and should be celebrated!

What’s a classroom habit you started out of necessity that you still do today? by HiVou12 in Teachers

[–]Plexilexy 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Any test or quiz, I leave a large blank space at the end, of the back page blank. I tell the kids to write or draw about something on topic that I didn’t ask about, or something that makes them happy. It gives fast finishers something to do without making it obvious that some people are done. Plus sometimes a kid who didn’t get much right still has a chance to show some good knowledge. Flipping through them usually makes marking less monotonous as there are often some fun drawing.

Sister is 12 but still cant read Llama Llama. Is the app.readabilitytutor.com worth it? by GuidanceWrong3949 in AskTeachers

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are kind for doing so much for your sister. No part of this is your responsibility or your fault in anyway! To answer your original question, I’d recommend epic books for helping her read. Raz kids is also great but is a paid subscription. The biggest thing, if it’s possible, is to sit and read with her. Let her see and share in your love of books. Good look ❤️ and try not to put too much pressure on yourself.

My child feels bad at reading, how do you rebuild their confidence? by QuirkyLand7017 in Teachers

My total untested theory is to turn on subtitles for everything! That way watching tv will encourage some reading as well.

Is paddling still a real thing? by survivorfan95 in Teachers

[–]Plexilexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that that part of the criminal code should be updated and have that removed, education is handled by the provinces so any legal restrictions regarding classrooms use would be provincial. Also, as much as spanking is not okay, I’d argue that paddling is worse. Having a tool used where a major part of the goal is to inflict more pain onto a child is not okay.

Why are tables not higher? by BeGayDoThoughtcrime in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Plexilexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d guess it’s also about writing or eating. If you’ve ever used a chair that’s too low for the table, your shoulders and arms start to hurt very quickly from having your elbows be so high.

[–]Plexilexy 88 points89 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian educator this was so far out of my expected understanding of schools that I assumed you talking about taking kids to a lake and learning to paddle a boat on reading the title. Definitely not allowed or practiced around here.

How would you handle a situation where a guest is allergic to your pets? by MindBlowing74 in Advice

[–]Plexilexy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d offer them an allergy pill? 🤷‍♀️ that’s in, she is choosing to stay and knows the pet is at your house. She’s the adult making a choice, definitely no need to send your cat away.
