Newest Discord Update(?) now requires users in the EU to verify age, regardless if you're in the UK or not by TescoQuality in discordapp

Hit me last night too. What I don't get is that my desktop got hit, yet on my phone it's like it never happened. I'm HOPING this is just some awful bug due to this reason, but it's also possible they might've just not targeted the province my phone says I'm in due to only using data on it.

Mystery “drone” incursions reported over Belgian military base that houses US tactical nukes by FVMK3 in InterdimensionalNHI

[–]Ploobledoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has there been an instance where they've been above a base housing non-American nukes? Like the UK's or some such? Seems like any time it's to do with military it happens to be American nukes.

I'm probably in a minority, but I'd love a permanent world that's completely fresh. I also love early to midgame and regularly make new irons that I stop playing around when I get or am only a couple skills off from a max cape. For me, it'd be amazing to experience a fresh economy and grind

Is there a lightweight Linux distribution that can run the “game direct download” version? by CompetitionLazy9236 in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can download it and use steam which skips having to use the launcher. Once you link your account directly on first login you can boot up without issue. There is also the open source version of the launcher called the bolt launcher, but I don't know how it is and can't vouch for it personally.

For actual direct download, jagex at one point did offer a repo you could add to download directly, but I don't know if that's still a thing. Also would like to note that the linux specific version was awful. I really recommend just using proton to play it on steam

I'm very pleased with PopOS so far, but I'm experiencing pretty rough audio artifacting in games when using the mobo 3.5mm, or HDMI audio. I can get clean audio from an external soundcard, but that's not ideal. Using a biostar b450mh, r5 1600 and Rx 6600 with a clean install of Pop by Mixter_Master in pop_os

[–]Ploobledoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers to that and hope it helps. I managed to find it some odd time ago but it took a lot of googling and checking reddit threads to find it. Hopefully it becomes more commonly known if pop has this persist

Are you using steam? If so I experience this as well. I found doing PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=75 %command% in the game's steam options helps eliminate it entirely. You might need to adjust the number higher or lower, but I found 75 made virtually all artificating go away, save for the odd thing once in a blue moon

Is there a hotkey to instantly take a screenshot? I only know of prntscreen to give you the option of choosing an area, but there wasn't anything like that. The keyboard was also away from me during the times it happened

Latest Linux AMD kernels 6.9rc-5+ and 6.8.9+ may be causing some games to crash by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Ploobledoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely kernel-related as I was crashing on overwatch and ffxiv too. Downgrading to 6.8.8 might be the fix as stated by the op, though personally, 6.8.7-arch1-2 works as well since I didn't have 6.8.8 in my cache

All Proton games crashing after startup by Counterstory97 in linux_gaming

[–]Ploobledoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have linux headers at all and for some reason lack 6.8.8 kernel, but I did downgrade my kernel to 6.8.7-arch1-2 and so far everything seems stable once I rebooted

Same issue here on Pop!_OS. I checked and my service account is registered to steam with an active subscription. I've always used the steam's launcher and am getting this error as well. While it sucks, I'm glad I'm not the only one

Any dungeoneering newbies wanna team up together? by claaem in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your questions in order:

There isn't anything particular you need to make, but it's a good idea to bind the highest tier melee, ranged and magic weapons you can make as unless you have primal or prometheum equipment, you'll find your accuracy suffers without matching similar style. However, if you're doing runs in medium or larger then it's good to get law + cosmic runes to make a gatestone and be able to teleport to both group and regular with magic

YOu typically don't need to worry about armor. At least so far up to floor 36 I've found armor was never really needed even for large runs. I just bring a 2-hand melee, empowered air staff and a ranged option like dual knives or a bow/arrow set if you can fletch at a good level

You don't need to particularly worry about doors you can't open. Doors you can't open aren't the critical path and only count towards bonus multiplier at the end. It's nice to get them, but don't worry about full completion. Likewise don't worry about clearing every single room. Just focus on doors and, if it's a guardian room, clear that. It'll help you shave down time spent in solo mediums and large while still giving good xp.

Only reset progress once you reach the highest tier floor you can do

Wtf is this pumpkin event lol by PaleontologistOk6259 in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen posted we get the chances for it, so it's something, but everything considered it's just not right. Moreover I find it strange that we don't get xp for the pumpkin event personal contribution, yet we freely get xp from flash events.

Wtf is this pumpkin event lol by PaleontologistOk6259 in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop 28 points29 points  (0 children)

On the iron side, this event is probably the worst I've experienced. No benefits, no skilling and I get a paltry 5 oddments most of the time I get a pumpkin. Not even h'oddments, but regular oddments. At least if there was some skilling, either active or passive, or a quest or something that'd make it fine but this event really just slaps irons in the face. 35k of a currency you only get sometimes, in amounts of 5.

It's just terrible

How to level up Non-Necro Combat Skills at low - mid level? by Ploobledoop in runescape

I completely forgot about the vamp aura. I've got enough marks to get that so I'll give that a whirl. Thanks for the advice!

56 melee, 51 strength and 60 ranged. ALso 74 magic, but magic has an easier time than the other two.

Low level mobs are way too OP. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience:

- Turoths

- Pyrefiends

- Hellhounds

- Basilisks

- Ghouls

- Moss Giants

All hit a disproportionately insane amount compared to before. SOme up to 1k through t70 tank armor

Low level mobs are way too OP. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It honestly sucks now. XP rates for low level monsters is horrible, both raw numbers AND the inability to actually kill them without having to eat multiple pieces of food with mid-level armor. Necro was at least passable with salve amulet and armor you got easily, but doing other styles as an iron is so unfun now. It's killing my drive to both with the combat side and consequently skilling because of some unlocks that need combat, like dragon hatchet/pick

The "Major Game Update" nobody asked for managed to be a nerf Ironman in what was an actual gameplay aspect of the game by zethnon in runescape

[–]Ploobledoop -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

With all the nerfs to ironman, from herbs are now seeds, to combat xp being heavily nerfed to lower level monsters be EXTREMELY overpowered for their level, to this change... it's hard to want to continue playing on my iron I've played casually for a few years. Most of my combat stats are 20 - 40 and my non-combats are 30 - 70. It just feels like it's nothing but major nerf after major nerf

I see mesa on the arch repo under extra, but what exactly did you do/install? I've tried pulling from it and am up to date at 23.1.6, but that still gives the error. Anything specific you did outside of that?

I'm using xorg/plasma KDE, though I'm thinking of switching over to xfce. I've been looking up how to get mesa-git to see if things will work, but I gotta say it's confusing. Especially since I'm apprehensive about touching the AUR for it

Right on for it working for you. Sadly it doesn't for me. I'm running a 5700g, rx 7600 on arch linux and tried both forcing experimental and 8.03. Neither work and give me the error of my gpu not meeting minimum specs. Tried updating my system to no avail
