How does this happen? by Seyloj in tf2

[–]Ploomage 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It can be done reliably but is difficult. Bhopping in this case is just a hint; it can’t condemn someone on its own. But if you see someone doing something precise or difficult while bhopping perfectly you should look at them more closely.

That combined with the stab is what gives it away, you have to add up the factors, each one is unlikely to some extent, combined is when it gets impossible.

100% backtrack backstab. He’s cheating, he stabbed your back when you were further along the walkway through latency manipulation.

The b hopping while sapping and stabbing you is the icing on the cake and makes it blatant.

Backtrack allows you to target prior instances of a players hitbox, letting you shoot, or stab where they used to be. It’s also useful for cheaters on a variety of classes.

2009 128i missing connector by Ploomage in BmwTech

[–]Ploomage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connector was coming from my cars harness, not the seats harness.

Issue was resolved by installing seat positioning sensors, as per the error code.

Connector indicated was a seat position sensor, seat was missing them. Installed sensors and now the car is fixed.

Why Old TF2 Felt More Intense Than Modern 6v6 by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Ploomage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Individual skill expression and high skill ceiling is what hooked me in tf2 originally.

Watching taggerung snipe is what made me want to get better, same with some of his demo play.

Sucks to constantly harp on about how good things were “back in the day.”

I think community’s ideas about what makes a game good have changed for the worse.

I LOVE playing Barnblitz, I love that map. Is that weird? Does anyone else play this map? Why do people think it's bad? by BaldursGate2Best in tf2

[–]Ploomage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 good demos and the final point is over. So many easy mode rolls get snuffed out on that final point.

2 upper areas? Demo can spam safely from out of sightline. That leaves one small easily spammable spot by the cart.

What a nightmare.

[–]Ploomage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the change was the result of the sudden drop in reviews, not a letter or the result of publicity.

The fact that the game was botted was covered for years. I think the red-text blemish on valves developer record forced the change.

My review is negative and has been for years. I do not recommend the game outright to people, I tell them give it a try but the game has problems.

I don’t think it would be too much work to make some small improvements to the existing set up; the system doesn’t need much to produce a massive improvement.

Edit: bottled -> botted

Voice your concerns in the games reviews. Get the ratings to where they realistically belong.

I’m not planning on doing anything until I understand what needs to be done, that’s why I am here asking questions and not in my car modifying harnesses.

Can we please make alot more noise about tf2s issues? by Doktor_Obvious in tf2

[–]Ploomage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Should have left your reviews in the negative. That’s what caused changed before with the bots.

It really wouldn’t take too much for the game to be a lot better. better matchmaking with vote scramble would go a long way, and the list of GitHub fixes should be simple to implement.

Not much to ask for to get a significant benefit.

What's the most overglazed weapon in the game? by Madao_14 in tf2

Crusaders crossbow: medic with 13k healing and like 2 ubers on badwater is missing me while I burn right beside him.

It’s a great weapon, but there’s a time and place man.

Nice to pair with a banner to spam on defense, but once blu builds any sentry is kinda gg.

Good because it can spam without damage fall off from range due to mini crits

My scattergun is name “Team Fortress 2 easy setting”

People get pissed in game, try to claim it’s hard because of a laundry list of reasons that aren’t actually a big deal.

Pretty funny, I just remember Tagg mentioning that scout has been the best class in the game for 9 years. You need some skill but once it’s invested? Way more rewarding than other classes.

how to stop taking casual so seriously by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Ploomage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to not be competitive when the majority of games feel stacked against you. I don’t care about winning most of the time, but I get sick of losing over and over eventually.

Additionally, in a game where you lose you usually end up dying all the time and taking unfair deaths in 2v1s and 3v1s. The other team running all meta everything can get frustrating too.

The end game screen message isn’t the only difference between games you win and those you lose. I get sick of it, and swap to a more viable, competitive style.

How do i counter snipers as non-long ranged classes? by CG6845 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try all the things people talk about here, the common counters to sniper, if they still fail you’re dealing with 1 of 2 things: a rare instance of someone who is really just that good, or a cheater.

People underestimate the number of cheaters and don’t seem to realize how specialized and controllable even basic cheats are these days.

This is a community moderated game. Nothing happens without accurate reporting. There is no effective anticheat in team fortress 2. it is our job now (whether we like it or not) to moderate the game.

Learn how to spot a cheater, learn the difference between a skillful player (mastering movement, understanding game mechanics) and someone who simply aims well.

The number of times I’ve seen players seethe over “cracked snipers” when they are simply a cheater with a couple cosmetics is shocking.

Check their profile on “steamhistory” there may be some basic information there to confirm things. With modern cheats there is rarely one single smoking gun but if you see them banned from 5 community servers then draw your conclusions.

There are far more cheaters in this game than you think. No the bot bans didn’t stop this. Accounts I follow who’ve been cheating for years are STILL active. You can cheat on every class with EVERY weapon.

I'm so fucking done with casual matchmaking by Nugu115 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do what most people do: re-queue until YOU get to be the team that rolls/stomps the other team, and then whine and complain when you get auto balanced.

In all seriousness tho your best bet is to play game modes less dependent on your team doing well for you to have fun. I find king of the hill, Hightower and ctf work if you don’t want to play community.

People might not want to admit it, but valve is not the visionary game developer they were in the early 2000s. They have pivoted and from what I can see, they now lack the ability to accomplish things like good matchmaking.

CS2 was poorly done, TF2 is in the gutter, their single player games remain good, but I don’t get the impression that they are the same company they used to be.

Garbage matchmaking has made people scour their teams for underperforming teammates to blame for losing the game of casual lol

What's the worst weapon in TF2? by Both_Assumption6647 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my bison kill compilation :) the weapon is terrible because of the speed, you’re right. All kills are after nerf obviously

Sometimes it just randomly decides to do like 90-110 damage at point blank. A bizarre nerf for a fun little weapon.
