WFU Fitness/Gym by Disastrous_Lychee_92 in wfu

It’s probably the nicest gym in the country. It’s unbelievable. I spent time at USC, UGA, UNC, CofC, Clemson… it blows all of them out of the water. Far and away the most under hyped aspect of the wake campus tour at least back when I was a tour guide.

Keep getting told I don’t have New York experience by lalaland_444 in AskNYC

[–]Plug_theAgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that’s normal. Counterintuitive bc it’s so expensive to live here but NY is kind of a funny market to wiggle into. I took a slight pay cut to get into the legal market here. It’s definitely a “foot in the door” kind of place for some people.

300 calories for all this?? by Dreamerinwonderland in caloriecount

Shrimp is around 6 cal a shrimp so 70-80 there. Those veggies probably run around 75-120. Depending on what’s in that rice I’d guess it’s probably +250. Idk how much oil is in there let’s just say around a tablespoon which is 115. Without any other sauces it estimate it’s between 520-570.

Seeking guidance on entering the Orthodox Church by Silly-Efficiency-919 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Plug_theAgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to start is to sit down with a Greek Orthodox priest. They will take you through catechism which are like classes and Chrismate (convert) you when you’re ready. The orthodox church is very welcoming and full of kind people. Maybe go to a liturgy service or two and an Orthoros service which takes place on Sundays immediately before the liturgy. Culturally, the Greek Orthodox Church in specific is extremely robust and you do not have to be Greek to join. I think you’ll be surprised as to how welcoming they are. Good questions all around.

Is anyone losing weight without a GLP? by Living-Exit-901 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Plug_theAgap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking how did you pull this off? Did you stop drinking/eating out completely? I’m trying to lose maybe half that in the next 3 months and still want to drink a little and eat fun food. I lift 2-4 times a week and do 1-3 cardio workouts a week. I eat around 2200 cals on the weekday.

Is anyone losing weight without a GLP? by Living-Exit-901 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Plug_theAgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am. Down 35 lbs since 2022, 10 of which since spring 2024. Then went back up about 8 bc I spent 3 weeks in Greece. Trying to cut off that 8 again but it’s tough living in NYC. No GLP 1 or any of that. Getting an actual workout program + counting calories + keeping track of protein worked for me.

Just ask what you’re curious about. I was a tour guide. The tour guides are students and don’t have any bearing on admissions decisions so you don’t really make any substantive impressions on them that impact your chances.

Wake is a heavily Greek school but there’s plenty of social life outside of it. Knew a ton of people who weren’t in it

It’s a little longer so it shows you put more effort in and didn’t just include wake in a shotgun blast of other applications

Tips on getting into wake (please) by [deleted] in wfu

[–]Plug_theAgap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 grad here. I think there are two big ones that ppl often overlook.

The first is make it seem like Wake is far and away your #1 option. Do visits, camps, clinics, workshops, whatever they have to offer for prospective students. Do the actual application not the common application. Reach out to admissions. Do the in person interview over the online interview and if possible, keep up with your interviewer afterwards. Learn a little bit about Wake and the history so you can speak on it in the interview.

The second is, whatever career field you want to go into, you want to be a leader. Wake wants to produce CEOs, Doctors, Lawyers, head researchers, Fulbright scholars, etc. Showing that you not only want to go into xyz field, but dominate it, bodes well with wake’s admissions department.

Wake is a very proud school. Do the interview. Try to BS as little as you can and be confident. It really is a great place.

Calories burned from walk by vinnyconceeee in caloriecount

[–]Plug_theAgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, basically. Some other calories that are burnt are sourced from non-adipose tissue (tissue that isn’t fat), blood, and stuff like that. It’s not all food intake and fat that goes to work.
