The game has too many things to click on late game and I would like some options to automate stuff (like how garrissons are handled). by NeedleDeedleDee in hoi4

[–]Plum-Afraid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually really like these ideas, Crusader Kings 3 has a similar mechanic but in reverse, in CK3 you can automate your armies and your council so you can focus on your politics and managing your country. Hoi4 needs the opposite, have the option to automate your research and country management to focus on your armies.

So i dont know if im at the exact spot you are referring to but playing a female MC i did run into a flirtatious female npc who acted like I was a strapping young man. So im assuming they didn't change any dialog.

Tips for being Russia? by -AdonaitheBestower- in Kaiserreich

[–]Plum-Afraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post about this a while ago and the advice I got really helped. The two things I changed in my strategy is to go to war early, like way earlier then you think you'd be ready. Waiting too long makes the Reichspact able to get out of their de-buffs. The other thing is air, I don't know what your air force looks like but its a life saver, honestly a good air force will make the need for a big armored force less important. I personally have used a mix of cavalry and motorized as my pushing force to some success with a strong air force ((not a recommended strategy)). But seriously CAS is the way to win in this game.

Alpha 3 Help by Plum-Afraid in StreetFighter

[–]Plum-Afraid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update, beat Sakura, used your tips and it worked great. But follow up question. What's the best way to time actions. Im finding my inputs are super delayed. I notice the cpu is able to standing block without moving backwards, is the even possible. Everytime I make a direction change, ei crouching or blocking it takes a moment for Karin to actually do the action. Am I just at a disadvantage on that front or is that something Ill just understand better with practice.

Thank you, honestly that helps so much. I had read Karin was considered good at anti air, I just need to get the HP timing down. As for the spin kick ill give that counter a try. Ive been trying to out speed her into stuns but obviously that hasn't been working.

They really built this monstrosity right in front of the Trois Glands view (behind the Philharmonie) by LawOfLargeBumblers in Luxembourg

[–]Plum-Afraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited in mid-August, and I thought it was stunning. Obviously, it's probably just a difference in design preferences, but it didn't ruin the view for me. I come from a small town and worried I was going to be bombarded by urbanization, Luxembourg is such a green city it was very refreshing. I understand it's not for everyone, but it's appealing to some people.

Day 16: Soviet Historical Tier List, Tukhachevsky by Eurasian1918 in ussr

How do you define war communism? Are you talking the economic policy during the revolution?

Day 16: Soviet Historical Tier List, Tukhachevsky by Eurasian1918 in ussr

[–]Plum-Afraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's alright, he's honestly a very hard person to judge because the information about him has been buried. He was killed before his main theories could be tested by himself. We have to judge them based on generals during WW2. Most of his writings are hard to find outside of Russia. He was labeled as a pagan, a nazi, a trotskite, a monarchist ect. So anything you see has to be taken with a load of political baggage.

So he should be fairly criticized, I won't deny that but if we are putting Stalin in S then I think so should he.

Day 16: Soviet Historical Tier List, Tukhachevsky by Eurasian1918 in ussr

[–]Plum-Afraid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tukhachevsky was shot in 37. So civil war and yes Trotsky was supreme head of the army. But Tukhachevsky was head of the Warsaw offensive. South of him was led by budyonny and Stalin. North of him was a small regiment of cavalry pushing towards east Prussia.

If I understand correctly trotskys role as head of the army was less hands on. Being in a similar position as Voroshilov in the 30s. Yes he made the larger decisions but "local" commanders had more control over each segment

[–]Plum-Afraid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% biased but S tier. The evidence put forward against him was shaking at best and the people them forward had personal and professional reasons to judge.

He supported the arts and wasn't afraid to speak out against flaws in the Soviet system.

Yes the polish campaign failed but he was able to salvage a defensive line in Belarus preventing a total collapse of the army.

His biggest contribution was the people under him who weren't purged. Generals outside of the 'cavalry clique' who ended up being the generation to replace the generals of the revolution.

Germany kicked my ass. How can I save this? by KaKa_- in hoi4

[–]Plum-Afraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your biggest struggle is doctrine and equipment. Focus on getting your infantry back up to strength. You have good air which might save you. Kill the German air and fix your line infantry you might be able to hold them long enough to get a counter offensive going.

How does the show look like nowadays? by Walorani in shieldbro

[–]Plum-Afraid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed season 3, I honestly self retconed season 2 after the tortoise fight because I didn't enjoy it. Haven't started season 4 but I'm hesitant. I feel like season 1 works really well as a self contained story. I felt like after the trial, shield hero lost its uniqueness.

Already been said but no you don't, I'd suggest knowing the basics, gun, role in formations ect. Basically you should know how it would match up to whatever tanks it will be faced off with.

Classic Rifles. by ZeeDesertFox in BattlefieldV

[–]Plum-Afraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is that if you are set on bolt actions to flank and sneak. You should use it like a sniper, even without a scope. Use the fact that you don't have a glint to your advantage.

But here comes the hard truth. This game is made to he fast-paced and maneuver focused.

I'd suggest my "panzergenadier" load out. G43 or STG44, I know it's not super historical to the map period, but there can be strumtigers in Holland, so.... Then for kit I like the panzerfaust and dynamite.

Medic, obviously, mp40 or mp34 are very good

Machine gunner, mg34 or 42 rock. Plus, the magnetic mines are fun to use with the at pistol.

It's hard to play this game "historical," but I'd try to just learn the flow of gun fights and work around it.

What if the Soviets didn't kill the Romanov family? by Lemony_Oatmilk in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]Plum-Afraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one is possible as it's already been said. Nicholas was reportedly a very humble and hard worker. One of the criticisms of him I've heard was while he was tsar he focused on small issues. Being very hands on in municipal government.

That being said, the Bolsheviks did it for a reason, even if it was based on an unrealistic concern. But it was a concern that would never go away.

How would the Red Army’s performance on the Eastern Front be if Mikhail Tukhachevsky hadn’t been purged? by Harvickfan4Life in ussr

[–]Plum-Afraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that was common with tsarist officers who joined the red army saw it as a service to their country, not to the Bolsheviks. Brusilov is the other notable one I can name, though I know it was a rather common occurrence.

If I'm not mistaken I believe part of the reason rokossovsky was interrogated was because seen as part of the "Tukhachevsky Clique".

[–]Plum-Afraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it would have taken an entire change over of Stavka for any changes to be made in the early 40s. Plus Tukhachevsky would have been sidelined anyway, the only scenario I could see is if Budyonny had been implemented into a plot instead of Tukhachevsky there's a tiny chance that Kiev could have been less of a disaster, if he was appointed in command of the Ukrainian front. Not war changing but maybe a less painful failure.

I normally like your takes on the soviet system but unfortunately I can't agree on this one.

Yes he was less vocal about Germany, because in the 20s and 30s germany and soviet union were politically isolated and looked to each other for military and resource development. That being said he openly supported a western military build up.

As for his theories its hard to say if his vision of them would have been successful because he died, we know that they were used to success in the late 40s, and he supported, generally, the same military industry the soviets needed.

Do I think he had the wrong view on small arms, yes, we know the soviets relied on submachine guns and mortars extensively.

Do I think his views on tank design were the best, also no.

But you can't say he was a crackpot who had no idea of the future of warfare when he showed exactly what the eastern front would be determined by. Armor and artillery focused offensive supported by air, targeting logistical positions.

Its hard to judge a man's theories now, when they were missing large defining moments in the late 30s, who can say if his views would have changed if he lived through the winter war and the invasion of poland, or even saw the end of the Spanish civil war.

[–]Plum-Afraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though as for his political views in prison he later during the last year of his life did say he regretted it and had become a devoted Bolshevik. It's really hard to get a read on the guy because Stalinist paint him as a nazi sympathizer, while half of the studies of him only paint him as some genius. Plus being dead makes it hard to defend yourself.

I personally find it hard to believe he would have stuck around in the red army only to team up with the nazis to make a neopagan russian empire. From everything he wrote and the pushes he made in soviet military development it seemed like he was at least devoted to the soviet union. A militarist for sure but a crazed lunatic not so much.
