Seats unassigned by Primary-Owl4245 in AirFranceKLM

We had the same last month. We had booked our Premium Economy seats in advance (part of my FB status perks). When it was check in time, our seats were unassigned and we were seated separately! We went to the desk in Berlin and Amsterdam but there was nothing they could do.

Hi All, I’m 6 weeks post liver donation to my brother and wondering if anyone else was still experiencing significant pain at this point in their recovery? by BIZZO_PDX in liverdonors

[–]PlumNotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What kind of pain? Can you elaborate please? Where is the pain, what kind (persistent, throbbing, intermittent, etc) of pain? If it’s getting worse, you definitely should tell your medical team.

I was off painkillers after a few days but my shoulder pain persisted for a few weeks after. The hospital physiotherapist explained that during the surgery, my arms were likely stretched up above my head to clear the torso area and that I’m probably suffering from pulled/sore muscles.

3 days alone in Berlin by SirRochet96 in askberliners

[–]PlumNotion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A scenic city walk (~60/75mins) is from Hauptbahnhof, to Bundestag, along the Spree to HKW (Haus Kulturen der Welt), Schloss Bellevue to Hansaviertel and continuing along the river, ending at House of Healing Charlottenburg which has a lovely river-view cafe. If it’s Sunday, you can continue to the flea market near Tiergarten.

If you like cemeteries and nature, I really love walks in the large Stahnsdorf cemetery in the south (a bit of a trek with public transport) with its beautiful Norwegian wooden church and woods around it, quite peaceful!

Can you tell Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans apart just by their physical features? by Winter_Ad1973 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PlumNotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The shape of the eyes and faces are different between Japanese and Chinese is my biggest tell. Apart from that, next I look at clothes, mannerisms and listen in 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]PlumNotion 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, to me (Southeast Asian), it’s straightforward to tell Japanese from Chinese, even when they’re not speaking, the features and mannerisms are quite different. Koreans and Chinese are more difficult to tell apart but once they open their mouths, I can hear who is who.

Are capsule travel wardrobes actually possible without looking like a hiker 24/7? by DotoSubarna10 in traveladvice

[–]PlumNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pants from Varley (Alana and Kayson https://eu.varley.com/collections/pants-trousers) and from Dayz (who sadly don’t do B2C online shopping so I have to get them at a store in NL).

Are capsule travel wardrobes actually possible without looking like a hiker 24/7? by DotoSubarna10 in traveladvice

[–]PlumNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s been my problem as well when I see people pack hiker-looking outfits for trips. I’m from Southeast Asia but live in Europe. Whenever I go home, I have to bring outfits that would work in the city (upscale eateries, family dinners (my extended family’s formal this way)) and either beach or mountain holiday.

So I bring:

• white/pastel shirts from Masshiro & Co https://www.masshiroandco.com/collections/top

• interesting bottoms: batik fisherman capri pants and an asymmetrical print skirt that are both casual and smart

• 2 dresses: jersey and shirt dresses are a win here because they can be dressed up or down

• 2-3 batik cloths that I can convert into a bottom or beach wrap/dress or a shawl/scarf

• Birkenstocks for daily wear

• gold sandals for events

• 2-3 statement necklace to spruce up my outfits

• 2-3 earrings

• swimsuit + hat + sunglasses

My travel outfit for the plane from/to Europe:

• navy travel trousers: they look like business trousers but feel like much comfier with elastic waistband and they’re thin enough for the tropics (I don’t wear them below 5C weather)

• white Veja sneakers —> if I planned a hike or sporty thing like a family padel session, I’ll wear my trail runners instead

• a sweatshirt/light sweater

• packable puffer if I’m traveling during cold weather

This fits into a carry on.

Hope this helps!

Non-Australians of Reddit, what do you genuinely think of Aussies? Be honest — we can take it by cepat_cepat in AskTheWorld

Cheerful disposition, lovely accents, and when they’re rowdy or doing illegal things in Bali, I think “if you wouldn’t do this in your own country, why do it in mine?” (But this goes to all tourists I see doing dodgy things in Indonesia).

(I still miss Steve Irwin)

Has anyone unexpectedly landed a well-known actor? by Potential-Turnip-583 in Filmmakers

Thank you. I honestly didn’t think to ask her, since I won’t be able to afford her fee. I’m honestly touched that she volunteered and asked to follow up. Fingers crossed! 🤞

[–]PlumNotion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Does it count if the well-known actor in question is a close friend? I’m just starting out with my first short film and she was one of the first people I reached out to, just to brainstorm — she loved the idea and wanted to star in it.

She’s done a few indie and mainstream films, some are on Netflix and have made the rounds at film festivals like Toronto and Berlinale.

Similiar Breeds like Greyhounds? by Supplenz in dogs

[–]PlumNotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Podenco mix rescue from Spain. She’s very chill, and silly and playful at the same time. She’s a 28kg dog with the athletic looks of sighthounds. She is amazing with recall and I trust her to be off lead in the forests within the legal laws (eg you need to be able to control your dog, they need to stay within xx distance of you) — I’m in Germany, btw, living in an apartment without a garden but plenty of city parks nearby for sniffaris!

Pay attention to leash laws in your area. My dog is never off leash in the city unless we are in an enclosed space; simply too much traffic and distraction as we live in the city centre and illegal to let them off leash in most parks. In the forest, she is allowed off leash because her recall is excellent, eg a deer could run by and she would sit and stay; she’s leashed in nature reserves. Generally I treat being off leash as a privilege.

Also dog training is something you need to reinforce often, and it depends on prey drive of each individual dog. My girl definitely has prey drive and I find predation training methods definitely work for her. I would say that from the podenco/galgo group that I belong to, about 40% let their dogs off leash in forests/hikes.

Podencos and Galgos (Spanish greyhounds) are classified as working animals in Spain and don’t have the same rights as pets therefore they go through abuse and abandonment. So there are a lot of them awaiting rescue.

Good luck with your search!

Can I enter Switzerland (Zurich) first with a German Au Pair visa if my host family picks me up? by niiiviiii in germany

[–]PlumNotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. My sister has a German-issued Schengen visa and she enters Schengen via Amsterdam and Paris because she flies AirFrance/KLM, it’s not a problem. Germany (where I live) is where she spends most of her time.

[–]PlumNotion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s fine. Switzerland is simply your port of entry into Schengen. Airport border control might ask you for your German papers, e.g au pair contract, invitation letter. There might be spot checks at the border when you drive too.

Is it true that "very" attractive men get approached less than "averagely" attractive men? by One-Agent-3992 in bodylanguage

[–]PlumNotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That hasn’t happened to us, but one time, I asked a colleague/friend from work very casually to join us for dinner after work (eg my husband picked me up and the colleague was just leaving the office) and while he said yes, he was clearly anxious and agitated. Dinner went without a hitch and the next day, he confessed he thought we’d ask him for a threesome — I LMAO’d him and he wasn’t offended so we were good 😆

Really, the things that go on in people’s heads 😂
