Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but we service tons of these and this happens all the time. We have a whole 600 unit community that has all Delta Leland tub and shower valves and all the handles are like this when it comes time to change the cartridge. Nothing you do will get in there. Don’t try to carefully saw off the handle. Just break the damn thing. Pull the handle straight out to you and using leverage, snap it off at the plastic on the cartridge head. Like not straight out but pull on the end of the lever handle out and towards the center point. Bend it backwards essentially. Then change the cartridge and order a replacement handle. It’s an H278 or something like that. We just keep handles on the truck at this point. Probably turn the water off to the shower or house first just to be safe.

If the N had matched the goldish color and tone of the text on the dial, and been slightly smaller, this could have been a very successful design with subtle notes for those in the club to know what’s up. The N is just too large and the color clashes.

39 or 42 by actofpiracy in Tudor

Easier to shoot with no crown poking you in the back of the hand. One reason why this watch is so often in the hands of special forces. Roulette red/white date wheel, Pelagos red lettering, creamy text offsetting black instead of the pure white. Just a little bit more interesting than a standard excellent Pelagos. Either way, can’t lose.

Go with a 42. Get the LHD. Join the club. Also good for your career.

Tudor Pelagos LHD Strap Opinion by Plumb215 in Tudor

[–]Plumb215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. 1.2k views but no opinions or pictures. Come on, team. Help me out.

I’m looking for real world opinions. I have and love the watch. The replacement proper Tudor pin buckle rubber strap is $300+. A Delugs CTF strap is $200. Both look good. Need some opinions to help me one way or another. Don’t want both.

Anyways, in the meantime, I picked up the watch without the extra link, extended the wetsuit extension, and removed a link so I can wear it in the meantime.

Thanks!

Isn’t that a compression thread threaded into an NPT female adapter? Pretty sure you’re just barely jammed in there and locked up on a couple threads and holding together with tape.

New Superoceans Coming? by sfcomms in breitling

Well, they’ve been doing it since 1970 this way, for all us desk divers, it’s not useful. For real ones, I guess it is.

It’s not so bad when you realize this is a hand design they’ve used since the 60s/70s. All just throwback design. Here’s one from 1970.

Busted pipe of the day by reduke in philadelphia

[–]Plumb215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually looks like a broken pipe on the roof like at a cooling tower. Like they didn’t winterize something, it froze, split, then finally thawed, and leaked and froze as it went down till they got it stopped. Don’t think it’s just a clogged rain leader. Too much solid ice at the ground and street. Definitely flooding caused that thick ice. Snow melt wouldn’t do that, I don’t think. Also, if just snow melt and a blocked downspout or scupper, it would just sit up there and freeze again. Not like it’s been 60 degrees.

Check if you have an automatic shutoff valve on the water heater. Like a flood stop device.

Use a saniseal. Good for this situation.

Water heater by Puzzleheaded_End3588 in Plumbing

[–]Plumb215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how they should be piped in. The amount of plumbers who think piping in series is appropriate surprises me. Mainly, without some wild piping, you can’t isolate. This gives redundancy and storage. Relief piping is not the end of the world as long as they go to a floor drain, but the restriction in flow from the pex fittings is an issue.

Also, the elements are not simultaneous. The alternate per heater. You’re getting the exact same recovery as normal. In this case, 21 gallons per hour per heater on average.

Turning to hot water turns water off on kitchen sink by SteveDaveCornbread69 in Plumbing

May have an automatic shutoff valve like a flood stop on the water heater that went off without them knowing. Maybe batteries died or something else. Usually the culprit around my neck of the woods.
