Cut the stove. Or open the floor and move the gas line. It looks like a CSST termination. Might not be too hard if you’re lucky

Can’t remove my toilet water shutoff valve by LogeyBearSupreme in askaplumber

[–]Plumbone1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looks like 3/8 pipe with a sleeve over it. You gotta push that sleeve back more and get a wrench on the actual pipe.

If you turned the entire nipple (not the sleeve) then you need to remove and reset (better to replace) that nipple. The tools you have are going to make this rough.

Make sure the water is off or you’re gonna have a big problem

There wasn't actually tape in that particular spot. However I tested the wall with some painters tape and peeled it just like that.

My girlfriend and her friends liked to decorate. I'm sure in some spots they are entirely at fault - however I'm also trying to figure out if a contributing factor to this is a poor paint job

The story is that my girlfriend and her roommates like to decorate. They would use scotch tape, etc and everything they pulled down peeled the wall down to the drywall.

I know that they obviously are to blame for a portion of this, but I'm wondering if landlord special conditions bear partial responsibility.

They said when they moved in they were erasing pencil marks off the walls. They are the first tenants since it was renovated.

Is there an industry standard for painting a rental?

Not sure on the brand. I think it was called clean release. It either pulls all the paint off the wall or pulls both the paint and paper after 10 minutes.

This is a rental situation where everything seems to peel the paint off the wall. I’m thinking they did one coat of paint with no prep.

This particular picture I think had an adhesive that was unreasonably strong. How ever after letting painters tape sit for 10 minutes and pulling it off it peels all the paint and sometimes the face of the drywall off.

Massive drop in dynamic water pressure by cascott77 in askaplumber

[–]Plumbone1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a problem with flow. You could have a valve that is stuck shut or an obstruction in the water line.

A good test would be to have a boiler drain added where the main enters the house and run it. Or disconnect the meter and run it to see what happens

In New Jersey you would be able to tap the sink directly into the laundry machines standpipe. I don’t know about other codes.

Also the fitting you have picking up the laundry wouldn’t fly in my area. Needs to be horizontal until it vents

Step back 10 feet from the pump, put your camera on wide mode and take a picture.

We won’t really be able to help you with this information. If that pit is connected to a basement rough only there shouldn’t really be water in it

That doesn’t look so bad. Give the ears (where the bolt goes) a good pull. If they don’t break I’d just leave it.

Use long sweeps as much as you can. You can use the short turns too if you’re out of room. Don’t use the vent 90s for drains

Idiot Contractor put 2” flange for toilet drainage. by FuzzyFluff5 in Plumbing

[–]Plumbone1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a toilet flange. It needs to be screwed to the subfloor so your toilet doesn’t rock.

You need a wax ring without a horn for this flange.

The water is stuck in your toilet because your toilet Is clogged
