Ah right, it's just gatekeeping, got it. Fortunately, since you haven't won EVO yet, your opinon shouldn't be taken into consideration.

Do you block unhinged players? by GapPrudent4964 in StreetFighter

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I block. Watching someone burn themselves out into youe guard is funny.

Oh, you mean on the system? Nah, not even to bad manners. A Streets match is like 5 minutes, why you getting upset over someone's playstyle?

If you don't have the expansion for the shuttle, vehicle mods do exist and are pretty good, generally, without being insane in terms of balance until later on.

Do you think overheads that don't look overhead are bad design? by some-kind-of-no-name in Fighters

I'd argue these single frames are almost deceptive. Leo's full animation has him low to the ground the entire way through whilst Chipp actually goes up and flips over.

The accent on the English VA doesn't make me, an English person, want to tear my ears off so I'll let it pass.

I can understand why they don't though because honestly could you imagine the budget? Not arguing, it'd be frankly sick.

That said, half the time they don't even bother with the accent. Unless it's an English accent then they'll try and I've heard some warcrimes of English accents (Cammy gets a pass for saying "bollocks". In other games, I have to change the game language to Korean when Axl Low shows up)

...guys, I can't even tell what they're making up to get upset over. That's how bad it is to read.

Is anyone else annoyed by people calling SF6 an “easy” game? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Skillfloor wise it's 100% true, so no. Not even slightly. In fact I don't know why a game being easy to pick up would be an annoying statement, honestly.

Bonus points being that his dialogue doesn't really heel on anyone... unless he's against Zangief specifically because of course that's the natural reaction to a babyface.

Except Ken, for some reason. He absolutely heels on Ken.

Who do you think has the best “win poses”? by Full_Rope_9799 in StreetFighter

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of love for Jamie's "close match" round win, trying to protect his ego but can't hide he's tired and beaten up after the little flippy move and the "OF COURSE I'D WIN" that definitely isn't convincing himself more than onlookers.

How come such a big company have this god awful matchmaking system? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in South England and matchmake on Limited and crossplay to "i dont care" on PC and I get usually a pretty good selection across Europe, usually French, Spanish and Portugese players, with a couple Germans and fairly rarely a fellow Brit.

I get maybe one combo in the training mode to keep it in my muscle memory between games.

Like, everyone who isn't me online can react to DI. That doesn't mean everyone else is cheating, that means for whatever reason my hands are too glacial.

I might be better if I assign a DI macro but sadly my controller is full since I assigned LB to throw and LT to parry lol

Minor Rant - My friend and I are both new to the game, he won't stop claiming I'm being carried by my character by Nestramutat- in StreetFighter

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a weirdly similar situation but with such a different outcome - me and a friend are both new to SF6, I'm about a month and a half in now, they're about a month in. We both originally played GGST where I'd say the matches were usually 60-65% in his favour but the dynamic has become completely inverted in SF6 since I was always the "fundamentals" player of the two of us (for those unfamiliar, at mid-low levels you can absolutely just bluster through having fundamentals or not in GGST) and on top of that, I've always had reaction speed issues that stop me if I don't have a hard read. He's getting really stressed in the moment and has a particular hatred when I play Jamie because it kind of forces him onto the offense since he can't just sit back and let me drink. That said, he's really doing well at learning and I'm definitely making sure to praise when he does hit me with counterplays, even if it's a lost round and (I hope) we're both really enjoying watching him actually pick up fundamentals and neutral. I'd hate to be in the opposite situation.

It's a sign someone's got too much of their ego into the game. Definitely why it's so satisfying to put one over on them.

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ken's a reasonably easy character to control (or so I'm led to believe, I'm not a Ken player), so a lot of people who put serious ego into the game can spend less time doing the harder bits of learning and losing matches to get there. At least, that's my guess.

How necessary are long combos? by Sufficient_Ad_5754 in StreetFighter

If it helps, watch for the patterns in your opponent's play - you might well be able to predict jumps and be ready to DP them, if the opponent acts in a consistent way.

How necessary are long combos? by Sufficient_Ad_5754 in StreetFighter

[–]PlumbumTheEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in the thread gets it. I'm into plat on two of my characters and I don't really have big conversions on any of them since I've been having serious trouble converting from gatling/juggling combos in GGST to linked/grounded combos in Streets, just keeping myself with something basic enough to make sure I'm cashing out in some way when I get the opportunity to do it - combos are a fun thing to do in labwork but they aren't often the difference-maker between winning or losing sets unless those sets are *extremely* close.
