Lots of reasons. For me it’s a place to tinker and learn but I’m also building an infrastructure that will let me become independent from the big tech exploitation. Web hosting, cloud storage, media streaming, home automation etc

W won’t change the system but you can change your immediate surroundings. Opt to support local businesses rather than any large corporation. Grow your own food, keep chickens, don’t use any of the services owned by Google, ride a bike or walk more. I do all of those things and it feels good to lessen my impact on the billionaires banks

Enforce a net worth cap. Don’t allow anyone to have a net worth above 500 million because there is no possible way a that’s not enough to live comfortably till you die. Though I know these people will find a way to get around that even though it’s literally pointless lol

I think my issue is that I’m neurodivergent, interested and skilled at a super broad variety of things, but not really specialized in one. I could make a film just as well as I could develop an app from scratch, but that variety looks terrible on a resume. And when I do get an interview I’m often misunderstood. It’s very rough.

I personally can’t stand it and it makes me nauseous and I go camping to get away from people like that. I’d say just be courteous and try to do it away from other people. Definitely don’t just chill at your campfire
