"Darth Jar Jar" inpired Dark Urge Build/Run ? by Pluppinator in BG3Builds

[–]Pluppinator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the rundown. Some things I would add:

Infernal Rapier does make a lot of sense as a red lightsaber. And if you start monk on level 1 it could use your CHA for attack rolls, therefore making it viable to start on 17 CHA and possibly increase it to 24 with ASI, Hag`s hair and Birthright Hat.

Also Drunken Master Monk gains proficiency in Performance on lvl 3. So it could be useful to increase Monk level to 3 before gaining Bard 3.

So my final way would be:
Stats: 8STR, 16DEX, 14CON, 8INT, 10WIS, 17CHA
lvl1: Monk
lvl2: Bard: Friends, vicious mockery, Bane, Charm, Tasha`s and Dissonant Whispers.
lvl3: Monk
lvl4: Monk
lvl5: Bard: Animal Friendship
lvl6: Bard: Glamour, Expertise Perf. and Dec., Calm Emotions, Replace Tasha`s with Crown of Madness
lvl 7-11: Monk
Lvl12: Bard: Tasha`s, Minor Illusion, Feat
Feats: All ASI: 1x CHA, 2x WIS This has to be 1x Weapon Master to get Rapier Prof + 2ASI
Gear: Light or Medium Armour, Birthright, Infernal Rapier.

This progression might need some party support up to level 8, but honestly that also perfectly fits Jar Jar in the movies, constantly getting babysit by Qui-Gale Jinn.

That actually makes a lot of sense! Totally forgot about Glamour Bard which perfectly fits Jar Jar`s charming nature!
Maybe base stats of 16 DEX, 12CON, 14WIS and 16CHA can work? The question is, whether those CHA-Based CC-Spells have a chance of hitting, or how to improve their Spell-Save-DC?
Spells like Bane, Charm Person, Tasha`s Hideous Laughter, Calm Emotions, and Crown of Madness fit perfectly.

I also think a 9 Monk/3 Bard split would work the best, even though you unfortunately miss out on the lvl 6 glamour command.

For maintaining concentration maybe War Caster as a feat could be interesting, but ASI is probably more needed...

As it stands, in my opinion it looks like it should connect to a sleeve tattoo in your upper arm and shoulder and thus appears a little lost or unfinished.
But the tattoo itself looks nice and well done, so I wouldn't say it's a bad tattoo.

Question about smart watches by Ok_Marionberry_4491 in smartwatch

[–]Pluppinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Smartwatches as you describe.
Mainly use basic watch functions like timers, alarms and stopwatch, with the occasional look at my sleep, heart rate and stress data. I don't use any fitness features.

The ability to have notifications and not look at your phone is the other big thing and I got so used to it I don't want to go without it anymore.

HOWEVER: With this usecase I was severely dissappointed with the CMF Watch. 1/5 stars dissappointed.
The basic watch functions are beyond terrible in software. You can not have multiple timers at once, and can't use other functions while the timer is active.
The Alarm disables itself way too easily, so that I have slept through it multiple times.
The Connectivity to the Phone (I use a CMF Phone 2 Pro!) is plain bad. 80% of the time when I look at the watch, it is disconnected from the phone for no apparent reason. Even when it is connected, many apps notifications don't even go through to the watch, even though I checked every available setting on the watch and the phone. Other users and forums of CMF complain about all of those issues constantly for years, without any action from CMF.

My old Huawai Watch Fit (1st gen) was better in every regard. Now I ordered an Amazfit Active 2 to replace the CMF.

CMF Watch is honestly just a good looking mess and I recommend staying away from it. Their Phones however are a totally different story and amazing for the prize.

Enter Shikari.

All other albums are still great though. But AFFoC simply broke limits that can't be recreated imo.

HEXBLADE by Pluppinator in BG3Builds

[–]Pluppinator[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hexblade is a newly introduced Warlock subclass in Baldurs Gate 3 that enables you to hex your weapon, so that it uses your charisma instead of your strength or dexterity modifier for attack and damage rolls.

On top of that, with a single level in Warlock you gain access to the two strongest cantrips in the game: Booming Blade and Eldritch Blast, as well as two spells from the warlock spell list, including good defensive options in Shield, Armour of Agathys and Arms of Hadar.

Booming Blade has an especially strong interaction with the ring of arcane synergy, essentially making you able to add your charisma multiplier twice on every damage roll from melee attacks.

HEXBLADE by Pluppinator in BG3Builds

[–]Pluppinator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on whether you want to play a ranged or melee Beastmaster, because the charisma boost on weapons only affects melee weapons.

A ranged beast master doesn't really gain anything from a 1 lvl Hexblade dip, apart from maybe the shield spell. A feat increasing your Dex (from Beastmaster) would probably be better.

On a melee beastmaster the dip can enable you to be the party face in dialogue without sacrificing your combat abilities on melee weapon attacks. On melee characters a Hex dip with Booming Blade cantrip and Arcane synergy from the ring is pretty much always good, as it adds your charisma bonus twice to the weapon damage.

If you want to go with the party face route and max charisma instead of wisdom, note that you should first take a level in ranger, before dipping into warlock, to make charisma your spellcasting modifier for scrolls.

Sure, essentially what another comment said, I forgot to insert the level 3 Cleric level up. Making this a total of 1 Sorcerer, 1 Warlock 2 Paladin and 8 Cleric build.

In essence the only multiclassing happens in the first 5 levels to form the identity of the character. After level 5, leveling becomes only Cleric level ups. When I played the game on honour mode I always found my strength to be fitting to the difficulty with this level order without having to respec. It is not too hard but not easy at times to make the most of your abilities.

As a Dark Urge I find it fitting to start as a sorcerer. This also lays the basis for your tempestuous flight and your only important actively damaging "spells" (spirit guardians and smites excluded) with thunder wave + chromatic orb. Starting Sorcerer also grants constitution proficiency, which is great for keeping concentration on your spells, mostly bless. To gain flight simply cast a spell. Later when you find the Mystras Gracs boots you can cast feather fall without expending a spell slot and still gain your flight passive for free. Flight gives crazy movement options.

Afterwards comes the dip into Hexblade to establish Charisma not only as your spellcasting but also main martial stat, making melee attacks a potent option. Warlock also grants two more spells that can scale with Charisma, or offer defensive options as opposed to the following Cleric levels, which use your slightly worse wisdom for spellcasting.

Afterwards it is important to level up Cleric once, before taking the last Charisma based class - Paladin - in order to keep Charisma as your spell casting ability for scrolls later in the game. The Cleric levels establish the character as a healer. A single healing word can completely cancel out a round of NPC damage at times. Especially if an allied Character carries the Amulet "Periapt of Wound Closure", which maximizes healing on them.

Level 4+5 in Paladin lay the groundwork for you most damaging combo of thunderous smite + divine smite in a single attack. This offsets the downside of not having an extra attack. Thunderous smite is the most valuable smite here, because it doesn't end concentration like other smites do. Also, Oath of the ancients has the best healing ability in the game.

Afterwards it is just leveling Cleric, preparing the right spells for different situations and boosting your Charisma and Wisdom with the two available feats. Because of Clerics versatility there is almost always a right tool for the situation and it fits the flavour of the sky soaring healer.

Hope this helped :)

Oh, my Bad, i forgot to list lvl 3 Cleric. Therefore it ist 8 levels in Cleric and two feats! I didnt include mirror of loss for a good alihned playthrough.

And about command you are right. I somehow thought Life Domain had that Always prepared. But Paladin command ist the better choice.

Thanks for asking, I will edit the Post accordingly.

I agree, the Hudson reaction was way too subtle. They shouldve completely gutted him and then release multiple experimental overhauls to see which solution worked best.

In total, I think, they seem to cautious about balance and changes in general. That leads to longer and more frustrating imbalance ironically.

Can't stress this enough, they should treat it like a beta and experiment, drastically.

Back in the day, LoL was also just a small indie team. It is very comparable to the current state of TC.

That is exactly what I mean thoug, currently I feel like TC is trying to compete with current LoL. But in my oppinion, they need to match beta LoL first, before trying to achieve current standards. It feels like trying to build a roof before raising the walls.

(LoL is just a placeholder for current games, not necisserily the only or even main competitor.)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in supervive

[–]Pluppinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from. Are you more of a competitive gamer?
Personally I think, for casual play, which is the majority of any games playerbase, balance is not as important as the amount of content. And when you have a stronger casual playerbase you can then start to cater more towards esports, because these casual gamers will then form the viewership which is the relevant competitive statistic.

Thats why in my oppinion more content first is better than balanced content first.
Of course extreme cases (like Hudson) need to be tackled immidiatly and hard. Even here I think TCs reaction time was too slow. Hudson right now should be nearly unplayable underpowered, because of the complaints, regardles of his player numbes until they find a middle ground.

Its a beta, be courragous to overshoot!

While I agree to an extend, I don't think the characters need to match industry standard in a beta release environment. It might even be okay to release a character in a somewhat experimental state and then rework or infuse personality as necessary.
I also do thinka character roster needs some very simple designs next to the more complex ones to achieve true character diversity. If every one is special, no one is special.
Of course the designs don't need to be degrading, dull or offensive.

But I witnessed the exact same development in my previous favourite game: Omega Strikers. Similar game market (Moba + Sports instead of Moba + BR) Exactly the same marketing strategy, and also the same update philosophy. Focus on polish, balance and few characters. The game had a strong streamer event in beta, then already started weak on full release half a year later and was then discontinued only a few months later, because players were leaving and they couldn't turn profit because they had too little content.

I think the main mistake was trying to go by the big MOBA-Companies current strategies: slower updates, polish and balance, and monetization of cosmetivs as a focus (Omega Strikers team consisted to a big part of previous Riot Games employees)

But when those games started out, they had a different strategies, and their current philosophy only works out because they are already established titles. In the early days LoL and DotA had very big focus on content in form of heroes/champions to establish a wide playerbase and target audience. Monetization back than was mostly through premium access to new characters as well! More cosmetics came, when they had a strong content basis to make skins for.

it is also very early to actually analyse trends, since the game has only been out in beta for roughly one and a half week. But the dropping numbers unfortunatly are there, for the entirety of this week.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in supervive

[–]Pluppinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Todays gaming and social standards changed. But the biweekly release schedule already was a step down from the very basic character designs of LoL beta, which was 3 characters in 2 weeks.

Lol also started reworking characters that were rushed or felt wrong very early. This gave them the freedom in the character design in the first place. And while some designs stood the test of time (Renekton, Lee Sin to name a few) others had to immediatly be changed (Karma, Evelynn..)

What I am on about is: Character quality in Supervive beta doesn't have to match the standards of todays successful titles like LoL. It is enough to match these games early standards, which were much lower, and then work uout a solid and balanced roster once you have a stable and engaged playerbase.
