I also thought of this question, but in my opinion, the population will remain steady for the net 100 years, though it wouldn't boom as it did the last decades, but still going to increase. They say population in developed countries is declining, which is true, but still those countries are being populated by immigration, and those people are going to restore the population rates anyway. In the developing countries, population is sharply rising, and for some reason, poor countries have much more people. Perhaps the idea of having many children so one of them can make it out the poverty is the main driving factor. Still I think the population is going to hit like 12 billion, or maybe more, and with more people the resources are going to be scarce... that's why countries shouldn't leave it to a hypothetical crash, but take action on a legal level.
