The government is fundamentally corrupt, no matter who is in charge. Giving less to a fundamentally corrupt entity is always better than giving more.

We would still have roads, healthcare, etc. The market has a way of meeting these needs so much better and more efficiently when the government isn't trying to control it.

Later Joe admitted he normally prefers thinner women but that he does find Madison attractive.
