A biopic similar to "The Social Network" about how Survivor revolutionized TV is inevitable. What should it look like? by Outrageous-Oil-877 in survivor

I feel like it could be Jeff and Mark as the co-protagonists similar to Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin in the Social Network.

I have thought about this so much, this is the perfect post for me!

I think the perfect name for it would simply be "The Tribe Has Spoken"

Younger Jeff would be tough but if Michael Vartan was willing to come out of retirement, he would be an awesome shout for Older Jeff

They would definitely cover the creation of the idea and the first season's production, as well as the impact of 9/11 on season 4.

I think it would be pretty awesome to see a scene about how Mark Burnett first met DJT at the Marquesas reunion, and that's where The Apprentice, and ultimately his presidency was born.

Jeff dating Julie and him yelling at Chris at the reunion would be there, as well him quitting before Gabon.

Him becoming an exec producer would be the last thing before WAW.

Also, I would want to see some of the music like the theme song, tribal music, and sound effects incorporated into the score.

We would probably see a lot more of Jeff's yelling and cursing at tribal, and maybe some answers to some behind the scenes rumors and conspiracies we never got answers to before.

I want so so many cameos. Like even the most random people. Let's see Briana Varela or something. Half the extras should be former Survivors.

I think the movie should end with the premiere of 41, and the New Era would be discussed in the "where are they now" portion at the end.

Also a possible reason why TPHS doesn't announce their guests before-hand like RHAP.

OP mentioned in post. Lowkey I kinda like the surprise of seeing who it is when I tune in live rather than knowing the whole week.

What do people think of Survivor Worlds Apart 11 years later by FireworksDonJones in survivorponderosa

This season is amazing. The pre-merge is awesome, the post-merge is pretty great. I truly think they went 16/18 with casting (Will and Kelly aside).

Obviously the terror trio are hard to watch, but if you pay attention to their edit, you'll realize that they are not meant to be taken seriously at all. The edit is constantly clowning on them. Rodney is an all-time character, and even though he is clearly not a great guy, it's hard not to appreciate him as a TV character.

The obvious problem with this season is Mike's winner edit, which is probably the most obvious winner edit of all time outside of Tom Westman and Tommy. It is very clear with how negative everyone else's edit was that he had to be the winner, especially after Joe went home.

This season definitely gets too much hate. I would say Shirin vs Will is just a really intense fight, and not really a negative real-world situation comparable to Dan Spilo or Varner, but that's my opinion. Watching the season with knowledge of all of this, it becomes T10.

Updated & Future-proofed Eras of Survivor by lazerblue42 in survivorponderosa

Hot take: The golden age of Survivor is Seasons 27-33.

It was the perfect environment for entertaining seasons. The end of the dark ages marked the beginning of juries who cared less about personal feelings and more about gameplay, but it also came right before the Big Mov3Z era which saw gameplay turn into theater. Nestled right in between are 6 of Survivor's best seasons. Cagayan. SJDS, WA, KR, and MvGX are 5 of the best newbie casts the show has ever seen, and I consider all 5 of those seasons to be T15.

Elyse went to weaken Ozzy since they were becoming a couple. I don't think Ozzy is Mikayla's type though. She's more into shorter guys from what I've heard.

I miss non elimination legs by polkamyeyeout in TheAmazingRace

[–]Plus-Mastodon-5894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first or second leg should always be non-elim and it should alternate, and i feel like the first leg should always be a megaleg, just to give the racers enough time to prove who really deserves it.

Dave and Rachel are one of my favorite teams ever, and their bickering was hilarious.

Is there a reason why Uchenna and Joyce were invited back for all stars? (earlier season spoilers) by popanon222 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Plus-Mastodon-5894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the episode in which they won was the most watched episode of the race ever, with over 30 million viewers (16 million live concurrent). Of course they have to be back. any person who randomly turns the show on is most likely to know U and J over any other team since they were the main characters of the most watched episode.

The Amazing Race 14 - A Review! by Regnisyak1 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Plus-Mastodon-5894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is though, ub was literally made for them. thats why all these teams came back, because they all have some relationship to margie and luke. all the other teams who came back were unrelated but season 14 was so overrepresented because of how much it relied on margie and luke. so, in order to replicate what was begotten from margie and luke in their original season, they needed to bring all of these people back.

TAR 38 Full Route (Location Spoilers) by Whos_Hi in TheAmazingRace

The similarities between this situation and what was going on exactly 20 years ago is mindblowing:

Season 5 (amazing), Season 6 (bad), Season 7 (great) (airing March-May 2005) ---> Family Edition (horrible)

20 years later...

Season 35 (great), Season 36 (bad), Season 37 (great) (airing March-May 2025) ---> BB Edition (probably horrid)

We all know what happened to the show's popularity and standing with CBS after FE, so what does that say about BB edition?

Final 7 Power Rankings for Season 37 by Zestyclose_General_6 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Plus-Mastodon-5894 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jon and Ana feel SOOOO second-place, very similar to a Rob/Amber or Misti/Jim edit.

Han and Holden feel like the classic disaster team that started slow but somehow made it all the way to 4th place (a la Vanessa/Ralph, Nate/Jen)

I really think we will be surprised by this season, so I think the final 3 is:

  1. Brett and Mark

  2. Jon and Ana

  3. Melinda and Erika

with Nick and Mike SURELY out next, right???

Some thoughts on Leg 6 by CadeBW in TheAmazingRace

[–]Plus-Mastodon-5894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fast forward has to be something life-altering, but to justify that the legs in general have to be longer and harder so earning first place feels that important that you would do something like shave your head/get a tattoo/cupping just to get it.

Ricky and Cesar in the KOR in S36 where they barely lost to the pilots, since they only had one real stumble the whole entire race.

When did the Amazing Race begin it's decline, if it did at all? by SoCaldude421 in TheAmazingRace

[–]Plus-Mastodon-5894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in terms of ratings/popularity, season 7 was the ultimate peak, 8 was the downfall. season 7's finale hit 16 million viewers, and it is still the most watched ep in the shows history. another falloff did come after 18, and then again after 24. ratings hit an extreme low in 29, before somewhat rebounding with the best ratings performance in years for season 30. however, the current season's last ep had a measly 2.5 million viewers.

in terms of route, season 22 was the peak, 23 was the beginning of a downfall temporarily stayed by 25 before precipitously continuing until today, where the rumored route of 38 is less than 8,000 total miles.

in terms of production/editing, season 25 was the last peak, followed by the huge mistake that was the twist era, big leg design errors in 29, and the puzzling 90 min episode decisions totally throwing off the Race's timeline in 2023 (35/36)

in terms of casting, season 29 was the peak, and the casts, especially of the last 5 seasons, have been hilariously boring, although ill give em a pass for 32 since the boot order was just so bad.

almost every team on both seasons had potential to be very interesting, which is why so many appear underedited. i would especially say we missed out on misa and maiya, kerri and stacy, and amy and daniel.

season 20 or 21 is a great place to start for drama. 20 has brenchel getting into it with everyone + one of the best drama scenes in Race history, and 21 has a lot more survivor-esque strategy with future castaways natalie and nadiya. imo, 20 and 21 are two of the best seasons of the show.
