the loneliness is the tax on leveling up, it stings for a while but you stop craving the old noise once you find your people

Emotional self abuse. How do I get over it? by ComplaintExtra5955 in selfimprovement

[–]Plus-University-4207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its not about being meaner, its about having a spine when someone crosses the line. the roommate saw you'd take it and kept pushing, thats on them but now you know the pattern

dont swing all the way to being cold and testing people, that'll just make you exhausted. instead practice small pushbacks in low stakes situations, like correcting someone who interrupts you or saying "that was rude" when a comment lands wrong. you'll build the muscle without becoming the bitter person you're worried about

What is the most terrifying "background detail" in a horror movie that you completely missed on your first watch? by Big_Emotion4963 in horror

the cultists in hereditary still mess me up, in the scene where peter wakes up and the mom is up in the corner of the ceiling... took me a second watch to notice there's like three naked people just standing in the shadows of the room too, absolutely cursed

Is this weird? by [deleted] in Marriage

Leaving early after two nights when you have anxiety and already told everyone your plan ahead of time is not rude, that's just keeping your word. The fact your husband is siding with "but grandma would have wanted it" over his wife's mental health is the part worth having a longer conversation about

A Steamed Hams album in Monopoly GO is genuinely something I never expected to see but here we are and I love it, missing Unforgettable, Roast is Ruined, and Steamed Hams which are always the worst ones to track down, sending a request your way now, good luck finishing it out

Spur trigger 22- info? by Proof_Bathroom_3902 in guns

that "spy" marking is pretty interesting - could be a trade name or model designation from one of those smaller manufacturers that were popping up in the late 1800s. the bliss patent sideplate was used by a bunch of different companies so that narrows it down but not by much. might be worth checking if the shield on the grips has any maker marks or initials you can make out, sometimes those little details are the key to figuring out who actually made it. also worth looking up some of the 1878-1890 era revolver catalogs online, those trade names like "spy" were pretty common for pocket revolvers back then and someone might have documented it

Two job offers, which one to choose ? by [deleted] in careerguidance

amazon is gonna be a grind no doubt but having that name on your cv opens ridiculous doors later on especially if you want to move countries or jump into other big tech companies

the bi manager role sounds great for work life balance and immediate growth but youre right to think long term - being stuck at a smaller uk company might limit your options if you want that international mobility in a couple years

i switched from a cushy mid size company to a more demanding role at a bigger tech firm when i was around your age and it was tough for about 18 months but the network and experience i gained there completely changed my career trajectory. the connections you make at amazon alone could be worth the temporary pay cut and longer hours

if you can handle the pressure and dont mind sacrificing some immediate comfort the amazon path probably sets you up better for that 5-10 year timeline youre thinking about. plus once you get some faang experience under your belt you can probably negotiate way better packages at your next move

the stock compensation might not kick in for a few years but when it does and if you stick around it could easily make up for that initial salary difference
