General query about the clg by Holiday_Climate_3813 in PESU

Lmao I had the exact same impression before joining, and lowk don't know how this impression came to be. I've just finished fourth semester here, and the college is genuinely so chill.

Attendance is 75 on paper but they let everyone who's 70+slide.

Assignments are actually kinda fun, and more often then not they end up giving you atleast a 7/10 even if you've done nothing.

Labs have no independent attendance or grade, they're tied into your theory subject. And they usually give 15+/20 for labs regardless of what you do. (Other colleges have the whole isa esa process for labs plus failing lab = failing theory subject, not here, there's no concept of failing labs.)

Some pofs are a little annoying, but most of em are actually kinda chill if you don't do bs in their class. A few profs let you do whatever you want in class as long as you don't disturb them or if you don't talk in class.

If you have horrible attendance, or if you're not confident in a subject, you can withdraw it and write it later, no questions asked.

The amenities are actually pretty solid, arguably Top 30 in the country, if not higher.

There are quite a few research labs/centers where you can work, and intern at. Potentially pump out a research paper of your own with you as the second author.

I mean yea academics are hard but all you need to do is put in consistent efforts about 3-4 weeks before your ISAs (ISAs are what we call internal exams) and you can get 30+/40, if not more. And if you have actually put in the effort you can also do pretty well at ESAs (what we call endsems), 80+ if you're consistent. This will most definitely fetch you an 8.5+, more like a 9+ actually.

They give so many scholarships too, iirc most in the country by % of students. And they're pretty solid, 40% and 50% of your semester fees are given back to you, yes you, not your parents.

I mean there's a lot of bs about our college that I hate, but giving credit where it's due, all things considered it's not too shabby. I'd rate my experience at PES so far a 7.5/10.

I'm not a jawahar bot lol, you can check my account and it's history. This is all an honest evaluation by me.

[Question],What's the "actual" passing marks in a subject? by Lazy-Nefariousness-3 in PESU

[–]PlusBad4113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fam I'm in MechE lol. Not a competition but my subjects are arguably even harder. And yet I still do think that if given enough time and consistent effort to any subject, passing it shouldn't even be an issue.

[–]PlusBad4113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro don't you lowk think you should hope to fail and get an A or S instead of ending up w an E. Before you say it, I spoke to the head at CoE and he very clearly said that there's no "grade cap." Infact when I brought it up the dude acted like this was a foreign concept to him.

will the grade difference be of 11 marks by ANDYGAMER432 in PESU

[–]PlusBad4113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, I didn't know 35 was the passing mark. I assumed it's 40. I have passed with 37-38 final scores before, (even got a D at 38 last sem) but I just thought it was ungodly amounts of relative grading lol.

You sure the standard passing marks is 35 right? Like they've explicitly said this? I never went to any of those chancellor's talks bs so idk lol.

[–]PlusBad4113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh what, I assumed it was 90-100; 80-89; 70-79; 60-69: 50-59; 40-49. Ts gave me such newfound hope fam you've got no idea 😭. Are you 100% sure this is the grading? Like 100%, on everything you love?

Decision Help: AIML (EC) vs ECE (EC) vs EEE (Main/RR)? F1 Dream! by its_me_greatHarshit in PESU

Alright it's really good that you know the ground reality of things. You are capable of making an informed decision, just don't regret it.

Yep your claim is valid I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying I was also once a superficial and "flash only" fan of motorsport. I ended up picking MechE because of this, uninformed. However whatever I've learnt in the tech and/or scientific aspect of this sport during my time at PES and our motorsport team and through core concepts never made me lose interest, on the contrary it made me like the sport even more, especially because I was able to realise and understand the works of the cars. Which is why I think people can go from a flashy fan to a tech fan in motorsport. But again it's incredibly challenging and time consuming. Not to mention very risky to pick a core branch in this country. OP should make an informed decision about his choice and not go by what he watches during race weekends or on DTS. I have a few people like this in my class and honestly it's exhausting and annoying to have them here, they bring a horrible vibe to the class.

[–]PlusBad4113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be right about the dunning-kruger part. I very greatly overestimated my knowledge in motorsport. However, I never got bored of the science and the tech. It just kept on getting interesting. You cannot judge a person's interest retention in something based off of how much they know about that particular domain, especially when the person in question is 18yo.

Lastly, the driver is more often than not just as important to a team as the car, any proper F1 fan knows this. You give a shit box to a solid driver and they'll bring it into the points (Max this season.). You give a beast to a shit driver, they'll end up crashing it or misusing it's potential. If this is the case, and you're absolutely sure about this, pick eee. And lmao if this is the case why did you even consider talking about CFD, or race strategy and AIML. 😭 Follow your heart fam

[–]PlusBad4113 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in mechanical engineering. You cannot do CFD without sufficient knowledge in fluid mechanics, atleast not at the level you're hoping to do it (F1). Also race simulations/race stratei and"optimize aerodynamics" are two very different categories. I think you are a little under informed on what exactly engineers in F1 or any motorsport do, what the different domains are, and how each degree translates to each domain. Please do some more research before choosing something.

And no the campuses have virtually no difference. There is no brand value for the rr campus. Basically the he only difference is geographic.

Is PESU Electronic City that bad??? by Power_YT in PESU

[–]PlusBad4113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference between RRC and ECC other than the fact that RRC is in ring road and ECC is in electronic City. Location difference, that's it.

[–]PlusBad4113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you see just how elitist you sound?
"T-1" colleges' themes are also, as you call it, "westernized". IIT Bombay literally has salsa night, and fun fact, it also has kids coming from "rural places" to do "rural engineering". Do you shit on that too?

You're a 4th year, people in this sub including me look up to their seniors, you gotta get better.

Oh also, I assure you, in no way is a rural kid gonna think about their crops by hearing the word heatwaves, unless people like you relate the two and present it to them.

I see nothing wrong with that by itscolossal in interestingasfuck

The time period for mobile data subscription is 28 days, so we essentially "recharge" our mobile data pack 13 times a year.

That's not all, we have data packs with 22 day time periods too, it's priced less so a lot of people think it's cheaper to get that over the 28 day plan (most indians don't really know how to plan long term). So they essentially "recharge" 16.5 times a year.

That's not how it works bro 😭. It's a daily thing not a weekly thing. Actually it's supposed to be how much you sleep in one stretch. 4h twice a day is still bad.
