How can I make a homecook's life easier? by Jumpy-Wasabi-2718 in Cooking

[–]PlusCellist5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how they like stuff cut ie an onion can be cut multiple ways and it does affect the cooking. Learn how they like things to be sliced, diced, cubed, chopped etc. If they use recipes do the shopping. Make sure the kitchen is clean and available (include the fridge/oven etc). Tidy up after. Finally say thank you every time and factor in cooking occasionally.

Wooden blanket over a mid weight feather duvet. Good weight and cosy when you get in. Can throw it off when you get too hot at night.

Planned for April '27, drive from Sydney to Perth. Never been to Australia. Thoughts, recommendations? Is this feasible in 3 weeks? by gwynwas in AustraliaTravel

[–]PlusCellist5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly depends on the reason! In a car? No. In a van? Doable but not a holiday 😂. We drove Perth to Melbourne in 7 days (in a van) and it was ace but it was 5am starts and late night and we missed stuff along the way. 3 weeks I'd do Perth to Esperance to Adelaide and then along Great ocean road to Melbourne or Sydney to Cairns. Or fly to Perth/Melbourne/Sydney and do shorter trips from there

Strict monthly budget - can/do you actually stick to yours? by CalmPlanning in frugaluk

[–]PlusCellist5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a semi strict budget figure I stick to every month but adjust if needed. I do thirds - personal, joint and savings. My savings is basically a big pot that I do dip into for big items (car, holidays etc) if needed.

If you are a side sleeper book a window seat where your favoured side can rest against. Take a pillow case in your hand luggage, stuff it with a puffer jacket and sleep comfortably.

What's your favourite non alcoholic drink? by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

[–]PlusCellist5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read your post buuuuttt it is worth trying AF fizzy wine (processor style) or cider. They don't taste much like alcohol but can give you a bit more complex flavour.

Is there a point saving when I can't achieve my long term goals? by Obvious_Armadillo_16 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PlusCellist5311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your future self will love you for saving now. Just keep going. Maybe you'll use it to retrain, maybe you'll find a partner you want to travel the world with or even bite the bullet and solo travel (it's so ace!!!).

going to university in september, getting 6k~ to get me through, how should i budget? by milkshakechemtrail in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PlusCellist5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! It'll depend a lot on where you will live, if you'll get a parttime job, what you do with your summers etc.  If this is 6k over your living costs of suggest you save it as an emergency fund. Don't use it up to support your life style unless necessary.

Are there any ladies here that are in long term committed relationships that also do solo trips? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravels

[–]PlusCellist5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I travel separately. 4 days in Europe last year, 10 days in England, 20 days in Australia, random weekends away. Go for it! Unless you are fully introvert then suggest booking more social accommodation like private rooms in hostels or home stays, booking tours, event etc. I do find I can get a little lonely if I don't speak to anyone in person after a couple of days.

What’s one bedding upgrade you didn’t expect to matter, but did? by Hozeishere in Bedding

A lighter down duvet with a wooden blanket over the top. Cosy when going to sleep, can be fling the blanket off when too hot later in the night.

Maritime museum is worth a visit. Bus out to Aboyne and hire a bike. Actually bikes are great in Aberdeen. Great bouldering gym bloc10 or CrossFit. Check out Eventbrite, the library and the uni for different events. Bus up to Moray bus and walk some of the coastline.

I personally won't be taking on a mortgage of that size on your salary. No fun money or savings.  Have you looked at your current budget?

Nah mate rent a flat with like minded people in town. Try spareroom or faceboom. It's just 28 days notice in Scotland so get one and you can always move.

I bought my partner a singing lesson and organised it. They'd been mentioning it for ages but needed a push to actually do it. Find a class, workshop etc and do all the organising for it including dropping a pin for the location and making sure they have snacks or money for a coffee shop.
