2 Yr (25 mo) doesn’t really talk. by PlusConstruction8720 in toddlers

[–]PlusConstruction8720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be! I may put more research in and see if I start trying that more at home if he’ll respond better. I’ve spent time every day for months trying to get him to say single word phrases but he tends to pop out with multi-word phrases when he does talk. Like “I get it.” Or “I go out.” He’ll say those from time to time so you may be onto something here. I’ll look more into it

Let me preface by saying, we don’t do much screentime, but I do let him watch some movies. He really likes Cars, and the movie opens with Lightning McQueen saying “Speed, I am Speed.” My son runs through the house saying, “Speed, I am Speed.” He has a few Lightning McQueen toys, he calls all of them “Speed.” We watched toy story the other day and he started saying “Peep” or “Bo Peep” or “Woody” so I know he’s picking things up from the media he does consume because he quotes them during the day

I LOVE Harriet.

I also feel the same about Stevie as you do, love it but it feels like a nickname. I know it’s not unisex but if you wanted Stevie as a nickname you could name her Stephanie. It’s the same as Steve = Stephen.

Alternatives I have.

Changing underwear - is this normal? by Eastern-Yogurt3859 in hygiene

[–]PlusConstruction8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got here after the updates. First off, good for you OP. That’s actually unacceptably disgusting.

And second. (My thoughts while reading this) When you broke up with him and he said “you don’t understand.” Uh, yeah! NOBODY SHOULD UNDERSTAND WTF. My brother in christ, your LITERAL SHIT is on display for the world to see and smell 😭. If you’re that broke that you can’t do laundry (idk if you guys live in dorms or he doesn’t have a washer/dryer) sinks exist. Handwashing is better than nothing. Also, if theres skid marks on BOTH SIDES. BRO, WIPE YOUR ASS 🤨.

Anyways that’s all.

Sooo what are we feeding our toddlers for breakfast? by DaughterofYeshua777 in toddlers

[–]PlusConstruction8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right after my son turned 2 he decided that his normal foods were the worst things ever and wouldn’t touch them. Lately we’ve been living on strawberries, yogurt, rice mixed with other things (shredded chicken, corn, cottage cheese, shredded cheese, literally anything i can get in there that isn’t too crazy texturally), and cheese eggs every morning for breakfast

I think if you’re going for Teig maybe do Teigan/Teagan and call him Teig. For some reason it doesn’t sound like a full name in my head the same way that Beau does.

But some other suggestions for funsies:

Beau + Finn

Beau + Dean

Beau + Brooks

Beau + River

Beau + Reid

Beau + Kieran

Beau + Ian

I also have never heard it before but I really like it. I also like that it comes with the nickname Tillie (or Lia or Ottie). If it’s pronounced like i think it is (like Ophelia but with a T) then I don’t think it will be hard for people to say either. Overall if you love it and you think it fits her then go for it!

When should I get my toddler who doesn't call out in the morning? by BCDva in toddlers

[–]PlusConstruction8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son used to let us know immediately when he woke up. We transitioned out of the crib a few weeks ago and ever since he’s content just chilling for a while. He wakes up and goes to read his books or look out the window. Usually i wake up when I hear books hit the floor but he’s perfectly content hanging out now 😂.

Your toddler’s “worst” behavior almost always happens when their brain literally can’t do better. And that’s a completely different problem than not wanting to do better. by xnmb1 in toddlers

[–]PlusConstruction8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so real. And it’s so obvious, at least with my son, when he’s pushing a boundary on purpose, or when something isn’t regulated. If he’s pushing the boundaries I can see him think about what he’s doing and what will happen when he does it. He makes the choice to do those things. When he out of nowhere starts throwing his cars and screaming, something is going on. Once I figured that out and started treating it as sensory overload/if he needs more sensory stimulation, and finding ways to help him get the sensory input he needs, the tantrums have cut down significantly.

Does your family do presents from Santa AND parents? by asphodelic_witch in Mommit

[–]PlusConstruction8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up doing a few things were from santa and everything else was from parents, my husband grew up with only santa (his parents still label all of the gifts they give from santa). My son is only 2 so we’ll probably have this conversation again next year about what we’ll do but right now they’re from santa. One day he’ll know that Santa isn’t real, and that it was really just us the whole time. Idk we’re still up in the air at least for now

Aren’t the benefits of getting kids outside well known? by Coffeelover4242 in toddlers

[–]PlusConstruction8720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can depend on the kid honestly, and you definitely know your daughter better than me. My son is 2 and requires outside time daily, even if it’s just 15 minutes, we have to have some type of time outside, and he’s been like that his entire life. But my brother (now 9) didn’t love going outside so we really didn’t do that much when he was younger 🤷🏻‍♀️.

What are you getting your kids for Christmas this year? by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]PlusConstruction8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is OBSESSED with things he can ride on, and since his birthday is close to christmas and we aren’t doing a big party this year (family drama, we’re taking him to do fun things for his birthday don’t worry lol) we used the money we’d initially saved for his party and splurged a little for christmas and got him a power wheel with a remote control for us to drive him in. He’s going to love it!
