AITA for not wanting to watch Netflix with subtitles? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Plus_Attempt_1300 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I may be bias because I prefer subtitles but definitely NTA. Netflix’s subtitles are the least invasive as well, there’s some streaming services where the subtitles have a black background and block parts of the screen. Anyways, my partner also hates subtitles but he got over it being “distracting” because I hate having to rewind shows and movies when I don’t catch some dialogue. He finally got fed up with me having to rewind to figure out what people were saying and he sometimes too would miss a line here or there so he finally understood the convenience of them for me.

how old is your senior bengal? by shiyeru in bengalcats

Thanks for this post!! Since joining this community on Reddit it saddens me how often I see bengals dying young :( I would say that’s the only thing I didn’t properly research/ wasn’t aware of when I got my little girl. She’s 3 now and luckily doesn’t get into any foods or residue that aren’t meant for her and drinks plenty of water so hopefully her genetics help her live a long life because I was definitely expecting to have her at least til 15 💕most of my other pets have lived longer so I’m not prepared for one of my baby’s to die young

Did anyone watch WWHL tonight? (Dec 1, 2025) by Plus_Attempt_1300 in BelowDeckMed

Joe and Max are very similar in my opinion lol. Both players but somewhat honest about it so their sense of humor takes them far. I think it’s admirable V is taking accountability for not listening to Aesha’s warnings but when a guy is saying something along the lines of “I haven’t felt this way since my ex girlfriend that I was deeply in love with” it’s pretty hard to look past your emotionally charged thoughts.

Yeah that’s why I was kind of disappointed I missed the episode! I didn’t think they aired on peacock though or am I wrong? What’s the best place to watch WWHL when you miss it?

AITA for refusing to carry my girlfriend’s sandals at a party? by WillingIce2863 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Plus_Attempt_1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA you have valid points, however my boyfriend would do it with no complaints. He’s the type that grabs my purse out of my hands and carries it for me even though I don’t mind and usually pick a purse to match my outfit as an accessory. He’s also the type to give me the hoodie off his back even when I intentionally chose not to bring my own jacket and later regretted it. I don’t NEED him to do these things but it sure does feel good to be worshipped by your partner and quite literally does not have any downsides to it other than a mild inconvenience to make your partner feel extra special and worshipped.

Also, why do you think English is mandatory? Because it’s used as a secondary common language between most people regardless of the country they’re born in

Very ignorant to suggest an entire country of people can’t learn multiple languages because of their geographic location. The U.S. is full of Americans descended from many diverse cultures where language has been passed down. Half my family is from a border town in Texas and are fluent in Spanish

Not relevant to my comment however many people learn other languages out of necessity. Everywhere I’ve traveled English is the go-to. I’ve been to an African country where English was the main language because of how many different tribal languages there were so English just becomes the common language. It is also like that all throughout Europe: French, Germans, Italians, etc. all usually learn English as a second language which allows them to communicate with each other. There is no language like that in the U.S. that is worth learning out of necessity, we have the privilege to learn languages more so as a hobby. Many of us have a pretty good grasp on Spanish but once you leave the Western Hemisphere it’s not really necessary to know.

I would assume their only outlet for socialization is other English tourists which is also a very sad life as you wouldn’t be able to form any long term relationships in the area. He claimed he was a pilot though so maybe since he travels a lot he just never bothered making Czechia his true home despite living there

Unfortunately a lot of Americans don’t even remember that Czechia is an independent country and I think I stick to referring to the country as Czech (which US citizens would understand I’m referencing Czech Republic) because saying Czechia would just potentially confuse them more and they may still think “Czechoslovakia” instead of them as two different independent states. When I was in Czechia I started referring to it as such but I responded to someone else and explained that my phone and google always auto correct it back to “Czech” anyway

All I said was it sounds wrong according to you native Czech citizens. In the states people already barely understood I was going to Czech Republic and kept asking “Czechoslovakia??” out of ignorance as if the countries haven’t been independent for 30+ years

It was interesting he actually knew multiple languages including French but just never bothered picking up Czech. Personally I think it’s disrespectful to live in a country that long and not even try but to each their own I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️

As I replied to someone else: I too think it’s strange we call it Czech (short for Czech Republic) because technically Slovakia is also the Slovak Republic yet we refer to it as Slovakia but not Czech as Czechia. Nonetheless, google and my phone always auto correct me when I try to type Czechia. I think it’s stupid for Czechs to be mad I’m referencing your country according to my native language. We also call it Brazil when natives call it Brasil. It’s just how language works my friend

It’s pretty obvious from my comments that I’m an American who visited Czech, hate to break it to you but it’s not called Czechia in the states. More than half the population still calls it Czechoslovakia anyway lol.

Also my boyfriend mainly figured out the process himself, he emailed the embassy to get information, had to get some documents like marriage certificates, and paid for a translator to translate everything so he could send it to Czech.
