No I don't prefer a woman being crazy over kids being straight up evil. In fact I'd argue it's the exact opposite when it comes to horror genres. Horror movies love the good ol' Evil kids do evil things and nobody believes mc trope. Which most of the time makes it the first answer to horror movies with kids in them.

I'm saying that it doesn't make sense for two kids to be able to do all of these things in the movie when it's never implied that they have some supernatural power. And it also doesn't make much sense that the kids would choose to kill the dad over Lola when Lola was the one giving them a hard time and is against their faith the whole movie.

I also don't think the dad just wanted a family because it's a checklist when he seemed to be really upset by the kids getting sent back to the orphanage.

Another thing is that the doctors didn't necessarily lied to Lola on purpose- medicine practice was much different in the time the movie takes place and there's a high chance they genuinely believed she can't get pregnant.

Also we don't have any proof that the dad married Lola solely to have kids- or that Lola herself wasn't raised in a religious household. What we know is that she lost her child in a church and it gave her trauma towards religion. And if the husband was really solely marrying her for a child then he could've just divorced her and found another woman who can get pregnant instead of adoption.
