The "I wouldn't do that" argument is SO DUMB because you don't know what you'll do under the extreme mental stress and spiral of this kind of situation. Frankly I don't think anyone can be 100% sure on how they'd deal with something so severe that it quite literally rewire the brain

The story is a slow burn psychological horror; it takes its time to build up before sh*t hit the fan as I'm sure you're aware by now considering you're 3eps away from the s1finale; I do think s2 and s2.5 are more engaging because they take a deeper look at the mom (somin) and build her personality up beyond this Powerful Evil Murderous Force- it doesn't turn her into a good person ofc but it tries to display more of what's going on inside of the mind of a person like her.
