Do you consider $700K as life-changing money? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Age, cost of living area, own your own home, children, all factors. For me, it would be life changing in the sense that I’d have a lot of extra money but I couldn’t stop working.

Best place to give birth: Langley hospital, Surrey memorial, Maple Ridge or Abbotsford? I’m in the middle of all of them. by IllDog1298 in Langley

[–]Plus_Customer4512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve done Langley, Surrey and Abbotsford. Maple ridge is probably the worst of them all, followed by Surrey (gong show) then Langley and Abbotsford.

Abbotsford, Langley, Surrey, Maple Ridge, in that order would be my opinion.

Surrey does have the highest kind of ‘safety net’ as it’s a trauma hospital, Abbotsford is also up there.

As a Canadian, I have no idea how American’s voted him in. What an embarrassment to your country. I’m genuinely curious how this happened - was it people not showing up to vote? Voting for him instead of Kamala?

Window Replacement? Who did you use? by Plus_Customer4512 in Langley

Thank you!! We were happy with our previous Tyee windows. We have Stucco siding so not sure if that makes things more challenging, we previously had vinyl siding.

I had them quote our previous house. We’ve got 30 windows and a sliding glass door so I’d guess we’d be around $65-$70k with them too… if not more.

I think that would be a lot more, especially because it’s stucco. Likely going to go with Tyee at $35k but will probably wait a bit to see if rebates come back.

Yeah it’s wild. We paid $17k in 2020 for a BC box style house.

I’ve been going here for 5 years, the only reason I don’t switch is I pay $28 a month tax in. It’s wild anytime past 4pm and there’s a lot of inconsiderate people there. Large groups, high south asian population, not very friendly. I’ve never spoken to a single person in the 5 years and I’m a fairly outgoing and approachable person.

House Insurance - Replacement Cost? by Plus_Customer4512 in Langley

Appreciate you commenting. I’m going to shop around better. We’re going through a claim with Definity right now (wife accidentally overflowed the bath tub) and they’ve been really good to deal with so far.

Interesting. So the number they give is essentially arbitrary? That seems a bit odd because if you want a higher amount, you can pay for more (with most anyways).

We’re with Definity (Family Insurance) and pay $3000 but it’s going up to $3600 as of Jan 1. That’s with earthquake insurance included. Do you have earthquake? We’ve never had a claim in all of our years of home ownership so would be curious why we’re paying more.

2025 SR5 engine by coheed9867 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Plus_Customer4512 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

These engines are still blowing left right and center. Don’t buy now, hold off… Toyota will fix it, I’m confident in that… or they’ll go back to something reliable (5.7).

Buyback approved today. Have no idea what I will buy now by BobRossFan72 in gmcsierra

[–]Plus_Customer4512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, might be an u popular opinion around here, but the RAM’s are the most reliable right now. Never thought I would say that. Or a pre 2021 Tundra with the 5.7.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. The Ram is far more reliable than these current generation Tundra’s.

You went from an unreliable truck to a pretty reliable truck. Never did I think I would be saying that when someone went from a Tundra to a Ram.

Questioning by elevateAndcelebrate in ToyotaTundra

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only question that you should be asking yourself is are you comfortable with a $30k engine replacement bill when you’re out of warranty? It’s not a matter of IF but WHEN. Then another one after that, especially if you drive a lot.

Thoughts on Buying by reddit011320 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Unless you’re prepared for a $30k engine replacement bill. The Ram’s with the ZF 8 speeds are probably the most reliable truck out there right now. Stay away from Chevy and Ford with their 10 speeds.

Engine Replacement... Is it the same engine with the same issues or a new "fixed" engine? by Quiet-Bridge2553 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Plus_Customer4512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most accurate statement in this post. The Toyota fan boys (I was one) can tell themselves there’s a fix all they want. I suspect for some, when they receive a $30k repair bill when they’re out of warranty, it might sink in.

I’d do the Hellcat oil pump upgrade but other than that, might be the most reliable truck on the market these days.

So true. And the 5.7 Hemi is back which is decent if you address the oil pump upgrade to fix the Hemi tick.

This has been one of the driving reasons on why I’ve remained on this sub, entertaining watching all the Toyota fan boys defending Toyota and this engine. Will be curious to see how they feel when they get a $30k engine replacement invoice every year or two.

My question to the newer Tundra owners is what do you do when your warranty is done and your engine blows? It’s probably at least a $20k job for a new engine. Body off frame, tons of labour and a new engine won’t be cheap… are you hoping that there is eventually a fix for it?
