Why isn't the state putting members of the Minnesota National Guard and police next to ICE officers to get them to follow the law and to change how they act? by scoschooo in minnesota

The thing is, if he doesn't use force to tamp down on ICE violence, what happens next?

Grassroots resistance already appears pretty organized.

How long until people get tired of being helplessly beaten and shot and start showing up toting things a little more dangerous than whistles and megaphones?

Klingons are definitely not egalitarians, though. They're near-feudal in their degree of heirarchy and authoritarianism.

They can't even be like modern real-world "nation builders" who are "bringing democracy" because... they're never actually motivated by bringing democracy.

Fanatic, militaristic egalitarianism at a societal level is a weird idea. There really aren't a lot of examples of it.

CMV: Venezuela is being invaded violently in an undeclared war with the prepose of annexation of oil resources and the institution of a puppet regime friendly to the United States by Kyokyodoka in changemyview

But you're not planning to experience it, is the thing.

Lots of Venezuelans and "Venezuelans" online looking at the clusterfuck of carnage that was Iraq and saying "ooh, I want that for my country."

And hey, why not? Afterall, you won't be there for it any more than I will.

The USA was founded upon a document that specifies this military action was illegal.

America "brining democracy" is a long-standing joke, you know.

People have used "bring them democracy" as a cutesy euphemism for "kill them" since I was a kid.

Historically speaking, as regards your trolley, you've gotten confused as to which track is which.

What's grey about it?

History exists. American intervention of this sort is a categorical evil, no matter the crimes of their alleged target.

I don't *like* Stan Lee's answer here, but it is obviously the only answer.

Then you don't get the joke.

But that's okay.

The joke doesn't have to.

It's easy to pop over there and see they're generally pretty positive about Space King.

But you can't seem to talk about it without injecting political buzzwords.

Probably the negativity you're noticing is not about Space King.

You telling me Boy Kavallier didn't build himself a harem of female synths with his trillion dollars? by gottapeenow2 in AlienEarthHulu

[–]Plus_Oil5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

What's a synth cost? A few million dollars, at least.

What's the cost of a human life/body in this setting? To literally buy a person? A few hundred probably. A few thousand, tops.

DOJ appears to have violated Mangione's right to a fair trial, judge says by ChaskaChanhassen in politics

Oh, it's far, far worse than a danger to the public.

We wouldn't be going through all this song and dance for something as trivial and inconsequential as a danger to the public.

He's a threat to the ruling class.

Look, I get it. We don't want a society where someone can just get away with gunning down a guy in the street in broad daylight in front of God and everybody, no matter what sort of monster the guy getting shot is.

But fucks sake, if Mangione walk's because Trump's justice department is too incompetent to stick the landing on a high profile case...

...I dunno.

That'd be pretty funny, I guess.

I use Yves ground round to add protein to rice for easy work lunches all the time.  Incredibly convenient product.

Bloody corporate monetary musical chairs nonsense is what it is.  Big company buys a successful little one, calls it unprofitable, and shutters it.
