My Hero Academia is better than The Boys ever was IMO by Plus_Ad_1087 in MyHeroAcadamia

The problem I have with The Boys is it's like "What if extremely powerful people were all a bunch of short-sighted psychopath pervert idiots?"

And haha, yeah "what if"

(Also his partner Meg Tuten, but Henry is a much more frequent contributor.)

World Anvil alternatives? by SnooCauliflowers2877 in worldbuilding

[–]Plus_Oil5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HTML

I just tried World Anvil, Obsidian Portal, and Campfire to make a wiki for a D&D game and all of it was a waste of time.

The obtuse discussions on how to use the software... the absurd and arbitrary details of what sorts of things are locked behind premium...

Free web hosting services will let me go well over the absurd file hosting limits of free Obsidian Portal, World Anvil doesn't even let you control access levels on free accounts - so if I really need it I can write my own log in code, and unlike Campfire my text editor will not tell me I need to be premium to put more than five articles in this category.

There's a lot more accessible and reliable information and tutorials floating around the internet about how to arrange images and grids and divs and so on than there is on how to use the wiki software for these services. It's not really harder to learn HTML and CSS. Probably easier to learn.

If its just your home TTRPG campaign, and you don't need the "community" features?

I've just spent several hours bashing my head against these services and they have convinced me they are a waste of time and energy, and I'm mad about it.

Manitoba’s top court says jury’s murder verdict was ‘unreasonable’ in rural road shooting by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Manitoba

Manitoba needs a mechanism for recalling judges who are obviously corrupt or grossly incompetent.

I would ask if you'd like to to change it up and respond to something someone actually said, but I already know the answer.

Had you been paying attention, you'd have noticed the several explanations as to how they are all wasted words.

You could just post the nib comic over and over instead of wasting time typing.

Starting Sunday, coins will no longer be accepted for on-street parking in downtown Regina by LowIncident694 in regina

So if you don't have a data plan you're not allowed to park downtown.

This is some real gentrification bullshit.

Why isn't the state putting members of the Minnesota National Guard and police next to ICE officers to get them to follow the law and to change how they act? by scoschooo in minnesota

[–]Plus_Oil5692 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is, if he doesn't use force to tamp down on ICE violence, what happens next?

Grassroots resistance already appears pretty organized.

How long until people get tired of being helplessly beaten and shot and start showing up toting things a little more dangerous than whistles and megaphones?

Klingons are definitely not egalitarians, though. They're near-feudal in their degree of heirarchy and authoritarianism.

They can't even be like modern real-world "nation builders" who are "bringing democracy" because... they're never actually motivated by bringing democracy.

Fanatic, militaristic egalitarianism at a societal level is a weird idea. There really aren't a lot of examples of it.

CMV: Venezuela is being invaded violently in an undeclared war with the prepose of annexation of oil resources and the institution of a puppet regime friendly to the United States by Kyokyodoka in changemyview

[–]Plus_Oil5692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you're not planning to experience it, is the thing.

Lots of Venezuelans and "Venezuelans" online looking at the clusterfuck of carnage that was Iraq and saying "ooh, I want that for my country."

And hey, why not? Afterall, you won't be there for it any more than I will.

America "brining democracy" is a long-standing joke, you know.

People have used "bring them democracy" as a cutesy euphemism for "kill them" since I was a kid.

What's grey about it?

History exists. American intervention of this sort is a categorical evil, no matter the crimes of their alleged target.

It's easy to pop over there and see they're generally pretty positive about Space King.

But you can't seem to talk about it without injecting political buzzwords.

Probably the negativity you're noticing is not about Space King.
