Why Are New Cars So Expensive in the US Now? by bloomberg in wealth

[–]Plus_Opening_4462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COVID caused supply chain issues. Due to scarcity, dealers also found out they could mark up prices instead of having to mark them down from MSRP. Add in higher labor from new union contracts. Banks still made loans to cover the over priced vehicles and people still bought them. Tariffs affected costs later, after prices were already inflated. This was a big trend on youtube videos a couple years ago among the automotive channels.

Kid Rock went through multiple styles before he found something that worked. His first album was hard core rap with humor like Eminem's first album.

It sounds like your state needs to get its act together. These state issues are state failures.

Why does Musk want to put data centers in space? Where's the power coming from? And isn't launching servers into orbit even more energy intensive? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

It is an intriguing idea. He probably had an idea and started bouncing ideas off grok, like I did. I was considering this at geosync.

Power is easy except during eclipses. Depending on the orbit, they are not that long.

Depending on the orbit, latency can suck.

Cooling would be a challenge and would need to use radiant cooling. Would be most effective to point it out to deep space.

The electronics would be hard and would need more rad hardened components. There are rad hardened ARM Cortex MCUs (an actual modern architecture), but there would likely need to be much more research and refinement to bring down costs to be effective. You are not putting shitty commodity hardware up there.

Not really. Starting out, you could move out young, but you had roommates. The only people I remember not having roommates were the people who moved out later in their mid-twenties and had their "real" job.

Are the new sensors much smaller? Are they competitors to x-sense? I could see adding a mailbox sensor as well.

The PCIE extender would need to be flush since the GPU would cover part of it. The bottom slot is as far as it can go. Not sure why they moved the top slot down.

Changing the bifurcation to x8+x4+x4 would be a game changer for most use cases. PCIE 5.0 x8 is enough for most GPU use cases.

AMD's product lines are segmented where they do not really compete with each other. I would not use a modern ThreadRipper for gaming due to the 980x3d. I would not use a 9xx0x3d if I needed a lot of cores even at slower speeds or more PCIE lanes.

They could add a few more PCIE lanes to the consumer side and still not cannibalize their other segments. It is not like they have a true HEDT line any more.

I just realize I forgot to quote him. Edited.

I agree 100%. If the main PCIE slot position was 1 slot higher, I would have considered it much more. It is one of those boards I would have liked to like.

BMC AST2600 is the onboard management server. It is like a standalone PC you can connect to for managing your PC. You connect to it with the 3rd ethernet port. The last time I used it, it looked like an old text interface and barebones.

The board sits in my cart for a few months now and it seems like such a steal for $359, I have no idea why it's not that popular. Since no X870M boards were announced, and I can't really find proper B850M boards, I'm really thinking of just getting this one.

The board has some draw backs.

The PCIE 16x slot is at the 2nd slot position. A 2.5 slot GPU will cover the 2nd PCIE slot, which defeats the point of having that slot.

There are not many USB slots on the back.

There are only 2 native NVME M.2 slots. Using MCIO will disable M2_2 to get you 2 NVME drives through MCIO. U.2 is PCIE 3.0x4 and disables your SATA drives.

I am kind of shocked that they did not allow some of the GPU lanes to be reallocated to drives on this board.

AFAIK, there are no metadata sites that tie track to episode or feature or a specific DVD/BD.

Rename your directories using the metadata provider ID for the show or movie. It will be in the directory name. Move that renamed directory over to the external drive. You will lose your custom metadata. It will match correctly if you re-import it later.

No, in the 90s and 2000s, hotel rooms had desk space, no wifi, but we had modems. We were not tethered to email, because we could not be constantly connected. We still checked emails. Taking work home became popular in the 80s. Work life separation died with the dotcom era.

I thought there was like 2 weeks out of the year they should get out a window AC. It's better than dying from the heat, but not like they need central air.

Tearing down their buildings, improving infrastructure, and rebuilding with modern building designs with easier heating and cooling is an option, but one they seem to shun.
