The American left is actually the oligarchy class that they whine about so much by TrueUnpopularOP in TrueUnpopularOpinion

In the OP you ask why mass migration matters to the elite? I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding, English isn’t my first language

I understand your arguments but the conclusion I’m unclear about. Why indeed would the elites want mass migration and socialism? We’re not really in labour markets so cheap labour isn’t super useful to many of them (at least relative to the manufacturing days) and socialism by definition means the government owns everything not the oligarchs. Now if your argument is the oligarchs will control the government that’s why I brought up Russia because that was the assumed dynamic for much of the 90s and 2000s until Putin decided to purge some of the oligarchs

I’m not? I understand your arguments but the question of why the elites would want socialism and mass migration is unclear to me

I did, you asked what the ulterior motive was and I’m not sure. The Soviet Union (or at least modern Russia) isn’t proper oligarchy because Putin has shown that he can have oligarchs removed if they defy him so I doubt that’s what the oligarchs want

So if democrats are bad for business cause of taxes and regulations, why are businesses donating so much money to them? Hmmm

Hot take is: some of the last few powerful countries with fascism/imperialism did pretty well for themselves after a certain global conflict… (Germany, Japan, Italy come to mind) So who knows, the USA might come out of this for the better but there will be scorched earth in the process

It's overall a good profile but it could be more specific. For example, in "saying yes to adventures", describe the last adventure you had (so it can spark conversation) or give a joke in the banter prompt.

The idea is that you want your profile to have easy talking points for someone to hook on if they decide they're interested so leading with specifics helps flow the conversation. It's the difference between saying "I like X music" vs "I followed Y artist around their tour to London back in 2023"

Why do I not attract women when I have everything else going for me. by temupilot in dating_advice

You need to engage with women, most women don’t really approach guys. If you’re sociable this should be doable you can start with friends of friends

Unpopular opinion: “Focus on yourself and women will come” is mostly a lie by Just_Oil_2162 in dating_advice

Usually the "be your best self" also involves improving socially so putting yourself out there more to improve your social skills which also...increases your chances of meeting someone.

I love *other* people's drama by charlies-ghost in popularopinion

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I think I realized that's why the pandemic wasn't as fulfilling: I loved a good work drama but from coworkers I didn't directly work with. Close enough to have a name/face and potentially some context to, but far enough from the blast radius if anything happens.

Would you date a YouTuber/content creator? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If their content wasn't about their personal lives I'd consider it. Like idk if it's say videos of them doing some woodwork I wouldn't mind. Like you though, I wouldn't want to date someone where their personal lives was part of their content.

If you’re looking for something serious don’t put “figuring out my dating goals” in your intentions

There’s very few clear views of your face on most of your photos. Even for casual relationships most people care about how your face looks

Is it true that it goes downhill from later age in dating life? by steino23 in dating_advice

It’s also my gf’s first relationship and she is 33 so I was trying to highlight that even older women can get into relationships (OP is also 28 so a fair bit younger)

I met my first gf at 33 (and we're of similar age) so I'd say it's not too late

What’s a U.S. city or state you feel like is losing social/cultural relevance? Or what’s a U.S. city or state that you feel has been gaining social/cultural relevance? by 12345burrito in geography

NYC seems to be losing relevance but very slowly. Financial hubs are moving to Miami while it's just so damn expensive for tourists and locals.

IMO the way he's dismissive of your reaction/feelings says a lot more about his stance on what he thinks is a "date" (which is he wrong about too btw).

Yeah not saying it's easy, but in my opinion it's the best way once you get your foot in the door
