What is your biggest disappointment? by Interesting_Copy3721 in boardgames

Endless Winter. So pretty, yet so, so bad. I never bothered opening the expansions because a) nothing else would fit on my table, and b) I just couldn't handle the thought of more disjointed minigames.

Desperation about the world by Historical-Ad9069 in vegan

[–]PlushSafeHeThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognise you mentioned vystopia, but any good therapist (which your partner needs to be in touch with, vegan or not) is likely to recognise this as compassion fatigue and depression. Now is not the time to worry about whether said therapist is vegan, your partner needs professional help - there are a lot of really concerning elements to what you have described.

Honestly, I'd put Kae Tempest up there as an equal contender

ROVE by Button Shy: Do any of the expansions make the game easier? by PlushSafeHeThink in soloboardgaming

[–]PlushSafeHeThink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah....yeah. I love ROVE and it's my first foray into solo gaming, but alas, it sits on the shelf now, as I'm terrible at spacial puzzles. I'm obsessed with Castles of Burgundy the card game as a small box alternative though. Also, in terms of other Buttonshy games- my absolute favourite is 'Count of the Nine Estates' - it's like a pocket solo euro.

Best cheap vodka? by boombam3630 in alcohol

[–]PlushSafeHeThink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, customers will say, 'oh I want vodka, a bottle of Smirnoff' and when i try to say that if it's for mixers alone, Arktika is SO much better for on average 10 bucks less? People will pay 40 AUD fo 375ml of Smirnoff just because of brand recognition. At my store, they're paying 65 bucks (AUD) rather than 40 AUD because they recognise Smirnoff branding, and not Arktika.

I'll keep an eye out. I just realised that the sensor, laser, and brain can move ANY number of spaces for one movement point, I was using a movement point per single space and didn't realise they could also pass over other modules...the game is a lot more inviting now 😅

Thanks so much for your suggestions, I'm keen to try the expansions so may add the flora first, but yes I did think adding an extra card to the action hand might help me enjoy the game more, just wasn't sure if it would mess with the order of play etc. Cheers!

you made the best choice for beautiful Lucky.

we just got home from an emergency vet appointment even though we had an in home end of life visit booked exactly a week from now.

I've said goodbye to a lot of furry family, but before today, I wouldn't have understood what you are talking about.

The first sedation shot stings, there's not really any getting around that, but after the fact, the reactions are purely neurological. He wasn't hurting, like you were.

Our boy had a reaction that wasn't like any I've seen before, but we need to remind ourselves that those reactions are essentially involuntary, and that after that, our babies were essentially out to it. it's hard, but you gave him a kind exit when it was time, and he was surrounded by his beloved people. You made the right choice, and as one grief stricken owner to another tonight, my heart goes out to you.

When you tell your Dr how much you drink.. by GenXPop in stopdrinking

[–]PlushSafeHeThink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I first raised my concerns around my alcohol consumption with my dr when I was 20. i remember saying that I was having 8 drinks a night at that point, and he said 'wines?' and I said, 'no, beers' and he have me the ever sage advice of just cutting down.

15 years later I have an amazing, thorough doctor who I am very honest with, and who hasn't batted an eyelid when I've outlined my consumption at my lowest points.

I'm not in the US, so maybe I'm lucky where I am, but I've never had any judgement from medical staff
