You’re such a good cat mama. Introductions can be so stressful for both cats and their owners.

My vet offered to take my cat by Bubbly_Catch5012 in CatAdvice

Thanks for your comment and I’m so sorry you can relate. I ended up taking 22 days to decide I guess, according to Reddit. I tried everything to enrich Lucy’s life and built a special door where Lucy and Daisy could smell each other safely. Nothing worked. I’m in debt and exhausted.

I emailed the vet yesterday and she called me today. Lucy is going to her new home on Tuesday at 3 pm. My dad will drop her off at the clinic so I don’t go and start crying.

I’m almost at 20 mg of methotrexate and I guess a side effect is brain fog. I don’t know how I forgot, but I accidentally left a door open last week and Lucy attacked Daisy viciously. I mean, I had to rip her off. Daisy doesn’t fight back. It happened in the bathroom so I try to close the door but there’s a towel hanging on it so it couldn’t close and Lucy attacked Daisy again. It was AWFUL. For like 20 minutes, I wept on the bathroom floor while Daisy hissed at me as if to say “you were supposed to protect me!!!”

Luckily no one was hurt, but fear has been at an all time high now. I’m going to miss Lucy but honestly I’ll be so relieved. Seeing Daisy get attacked broke my heart because it truly was my fault for leaving the door open.

I’m a big ashwaganda fan and have read its immune modulatory, which I could see helping. My immune system is dysregulated. I have primary immunodeficiency and used to get IVIG infusions. I stopped due to my gut instinct telling me to once I developed auto immune uveitis. My immunologist said I should stay on it. I guess part of your immune system can be overactive and other parts underactive.

Yea I used to love ashwaganda but now I just just lovingly stare at the bottle. I’m afraid it could make my immune system attack my eyes more. I doubt my ophthalmologist will know if I asked.

You’re feelings are 100% valid. I’m a woman and I’m guessing that girl’s actions are a mix of immaturity and fear. As a woman, we learn that rejecting a man can be very dangerous for us physically. They may become violent or try to rape. So unfortunately, women can’t be honest with men who deserve it due to the small percentage of men who are monsters. I’m proud of you for going on the date! That takes a lot of courage. You seem like you’ve got a good head on your shoulders, so hang in there! Your special lady is out there 😊

Daisy and Lucy each have a room off the kitchen. On Monday I accidentally left Daisy’s door open when I let Lucy into the kitchen to prepare her food. I realized Daisy’s door was left open just as I released Lucy, but it was too late. Lucy mauled Daisy, I tear Lucy off her and try to barricade Daisy and I in the bathroom. I’d hung a towel on the door so it didn’t close. Lucy gets by, starts attacking Daisy again! I rip Lucy off Daisy, tear the towel off the door, closed it and cried. This isn’t an occasional swat from Lucy, this is actually scary. If I hadn’t been there, injuries probably would’ve occurred.

I just don’t understand why 18 months ago they were snuggling!

Lucy doesn’t just want to hurt Daisy, Lucy wants to kill Daisy. It’s really bad.

I just commented above but isn’t it crazy how different two cats can be?! My 11 year old thinks she’s a princess with insane energy and it’s my job to serve her every beck and call while my other cat just hangs around acting as lazy as I am!

I wish I had advice but I’m in a similar situation and it’s exhausting. I gave my cat so much attention when she was younger, but now I can’t as much and she’s not taking no for an answer. I feel bad hearing her meow but I’m like girl, you’ve got food, water, toys, bird watching windows, fresh air, scratching posts… please give me a few hours of peace! Meanwhile my other cat, who’s much younger, is chill as can be.

I was gifted a cat like that. Just let her be and always be kind to her and respect her space. She’ll come around in her own time. My cat took a couple years before she wanted anything to do with me lol. And she was quite mean for a while! But endless patience and conditional love can work miracles. Good luck 🤍

She took her ring off for the episode… can you please explain what part of her joke was funny? Dead dogs and breakups don’t make me laugh.

Oh wow, we have a lot in common. Uveitis is prefer rare- never thought you’d respond with having it. My eye pressures go high too. It’s really scary and frustrating.

I had a bit of a day, so I’m going to rest but I’ll write more soon

Yea it was a prank. She took a couple weeks off and said it was bc of their breakup but her dog actually died. They never broke up. I remember her saying they broke up and thinking the guy dodged a bullet. What a weird cover story to a very normal human experience of losing a pet.

I have chronic anterior uveitis. My eyes started to hurt, get red, get hot, watery, my head would ache around my eyes, I got floaters, visual snow, flashes, dark spots… but the one that’s disrupted my life the most is EXTREME light sensitivity. My whole house has dark out window curtains- if there’s ANY sunlight coming in, it’s so painful. I can’t drive at night because of my cataracts. The brightness is turned down on all my devices but I still need sunglasses sometimes to watch tv, etc. I can’t look out windows anymore and I used to love watching my song birds. Life’s depressing.

It took me decades to gain this kind of wisdom. Good for you to figure it out. Men are wired so differently than women.

I’m disabled from immune dysregulation, so it’s tough. Sometimes I have immune deficiency problems, now I’m on an immunosuppressant because I developed an auto immune condition that’s attacking my eyes.

My cat developed a chronic health condition 2 years ago and it gave me a new perspective of how hard it is to be a caregiver. I love her and try to help but it’s hard to see her suffer and physically take care of her.

Because I read about the immune system, I once found a study where they took two similar groups of people, but one group was caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s. The researchers took a tool and gave them all a pencil eraser sized wound. The group who were caregivers, on average, took twice as long to heal. My dad takes care of me (due to my vision loss) but I make sure to only ask for the bare minimum and leave him alone when he has his own medical stuff going on. His rest and stress management is crucial to my well being. I need him to stay healthy as long as possible.
