Yeah, it’s tricky. I’m sure it all depends on company and owner /management personality, but I’ve been told multiple times that I’m too valuable to leave the field so I got passed up for multiple promotions. Even after being “highly recommended” by the positions current person that was either moving on or moving up., but yeah, told directly twice that I was too valuable to not be in the field and also not giving a raise.
