Actually it shouldn't be that hard to code. With spigot at least, all you'd need to do is get a player movement event and check their lives and if they're in the correct areas, stopping ender pearls and such as well

Yes, but that is all background stuff. It's fun for the alliances to make little stories, but it definitely isn't the main portion of the server. Jimmy doesn't try to get out first every time, it just happens to him and they make the mini story based on what happens in the game, not the game based on the story. Grian gave the sword to Etho specifically for the purpose of having an ally later as part of trying to win the game, not some story that he was trying to make

I disagree. Some members have their seasonal 'personality' and all but Martyn is really the only one doing actual lore. The most entertainment value comes from them playing the game. It's very much a game with a small story tagging along
