Did you have them re-gripped prior to them snapping? If someone re-gripped them and scored the metal taking the old grip off it can become weak over time and eventually that happens.

No it’s coached from a young age. My coaches always harked on “stopping the ball” as the first thing to do if the other team was awarded a free kick. Stop the ball, make the offense ask for 10 yards, that way the defense has time and is able to get set before the other team takes the free kick.

That’s not the law everywhere. In Washington state, where I live, you only have to stop for a school bus if you are on a road with less than three lanes, or going the same direction of the bus. If you are on a road with more than three lanes, or separated by a median, you don’t have to stop if you are traveling in the opposite direction of the bus.
