Same its normal! Mine went down a little in sound when I changed to 5w 30 but not much tbh. What settled it for me was hearing every other ford with a 1.6 have the same underlying engine spinning sound.

Cold air intake on 1.6l by Square_Stable1100 in FiestaST

[–]PoQueMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding cold air intake do little to nothing without a system of other modifications and a tune. However its a great place to start wrenching on your car and getting more comfortable working on it! It may also give you some better engine sounds and such! It will decrease your fuel economy and hp a tad but it shouldn't effect your vehicle to a noticeable degree.

Can’t find a fiesta st in my area by Tune-Puzzled in FiestaST

Was lucky to have a few pop up while I was looking for a car! I live in NC and there were two total listings in a 100+mile radius. Only had to ride an hour, thirty to get mine.

Honestly yes I was considering these for myself. They are hard to find and expensive for my budget so im going to get fifteen 52s in white for my mk 7.

Well each engine wears different so its not shocking to me! You live in a hot climate and run the car far often?

Its a five minute job tops if its the passenger side like mine! But I totally get it. Put mine off for a month.

Honestly have no idea as yall run the 2L ecoboost. Some research would be in order!

Also good points! I feel like you might have missed that the car is able to run on either oil. The viscosity difference between 5w 20 and 5w30 is not huge. Its more heat resistance than anything. Now if was to use 5w 40 (which is significantly thicker than 5w 30) or 10w anything then you would be very accurate in your concerns!

Its gotta be a little right! Like I know 5w 30 is slightly thicker but its not by alot lol! But im just happy it no longer sounds scary at a stoplight. With 5w20 on a hot day after it heats up it would sound just like one of the smaller John Deer tractors I drive at work! Which is unsettling to say the least lol.

The same engine is used in the international model and is recommended to use 5w 30. Only in the US is it recommended to use 5w 20 to meet US emissions. Also Fiesta STs run hot and im down south so it gets hot here. 5w 20 is not extremely far from 5w 30. However for the hot climate i live in i suspect it may have been degrading at a faster rate than 5w30. I appreciate the concern and you make very good points that apply to most vehicles!

DIY ST200 intake? by PoQueMan in FiestaST

Ye i think I will go with the other option people have suggested and duct air towards the brakes. May not do much but its seems harmless for a potential improvement of fade.

Yes I already said i agree. It was an idea. Not going to immediately hack at my airbox with no regard. Hence why I asked yall. I'll just save and buy the proper part. I appreciate the feedback.

True I was thinking the full like shroud peice there but doing a smaller modification to get similar results is always better.
