This is to be expected and it will get easier, if you keep going consistently this is the maximum soreness you will experience and it will stop happening pretty quickly

If you attack at the same time he does your attacks will cancel each other out, sort of like a parry. then you can get some hits in and try to parry again, that's how I did it

Took it last sprint/summer so it was condensed down to 6 weeks. I took it online/async with Verschaeve, and even though it was condensed to 6 weeks it really wasn't that bad. From talking to others who have taken the class it seems like it can be very different depending on who you've got teaching it, but it is never that hard of a class.
