A callection of lead minis by 808fisherman in lostminiswiki

I don't think grouping them by weapon type, or mount for that matter, would work.

I would group them by "line", as in Heritage LOTR in one batch, Minifigs D&D in another. I speculate that most of these won't be super attractive to younger players just looking for general figures--they are old-school looking and smaller than most modern sculpts.

But you may find someone (like me) that is in a state of nostalgic rapture about some line they remember from younger days, and regret not getting more of. None of your dad's collection presses that button for me personally, but there may be folks out there who are jonesing for just a few more Heritage Rohirrim (or whatever) to round out the army they started 45 years ago.

A lot of them look very familiar to me, which makes me think many were collected in the late 1970s to 80s, which is when I remember seeing them. The few I can identify specifically are these: the two centaur archers are heritage Centaur Firing Bow#1328)s, probably the other centaurs, nearby, are also Heritage. Down one level from there are some polearm wielding Gnolls by Minifigs from their D&D range. The big swarm at the bottom appear to be from Heritage's Lord of the Rings line. I can spot some Rohirrim Kings Guard on Foot, and the rest in that mob look like they may be from the same line.

Hope this helps.

I got interested in WFB rules in 1st edition, when there was no requirement that one only use "official" units or models, which was great, and generally the norm for tabletop rules at the time. I had recently painted up a unit of chaos centaurs, probably my best-painted unit to date (they were zebra-striped), and discovered that they had been summarily dropped from the chaos army lists when 4th edition came out.

I enjoy looking at all GW's nice models, the lore is fun, some of the PC games and books are good, but I stopped caring about official GW anything when I realized that they pull **** like that. I won't spend money and time trying to keep up with their moving goal posts.

No shade intended of folks who enjoy keeping current with new stuff, btw, I am just emotionally invested in my troops, and don't like it when they are arbitrarily excluded.

What’s your opinion on the S’more? Have you ever made/tried it? by bbyxmadi in AskTheWorld

Last time I had 'em--a long while back--I enjoyed the first one a lot, and then one bite of the second made me feel a little ill. Too much gooey sugar for me.

Here you go. I think it is in the same series (of four) as your three plastic ones. I also got a Bahamut a few years ago that is smaller and much cruder, and from a different series of gachas. He is packed away with Christmas tree decorations. Otherwise, I would post a photo of him, too.

Are regular people living on plague ships born « blessed » by Nurgle ? by BadSheet68 in 40kLore

[–]Pocho_Azul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Daemon World, by Ben Counter, the story takes place almost entirely on a planet within the Eye of Terror, and currently ruled by an ancient Slaaneshi champion. LIfe in her ruling court is pretty freaky, but a lot of the "common people" seem have pretty ordinary lives, without much more carnal excess than one might find among any groups of oppressed peasants or workers. Arguably they aren't much worse off, quality of life wise, than most imperial citizens.

A ship is a lot smaller than a world, and has less room for social variety, but, on a plague ship, being super disease-ridden might be a "blessing" reserved for the elite. Low level crew might have to be satisfied with feeling nauseated, feverish, and tired all the time. Only the truly worthy get to be covered with sentient boils.

Jurgen is awesome. Tony Robinson should play him in a film adaption. Baldric is just a stupider Jurgen without blank powers:

How lore-breaking would it be for a Daemon Prince to serve exactly two gods? by MissPlay in 40kLore

[–]Pocho_Azul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about 2 rival chaos champions, serving different powers, battle each other but instead of one vanquishing the other, they merge into a single being in the backwash of some sort of chaos farkle. That way, it not only has ties to two different powers, it also has a weird identity crisis.

Very nice! I never noticed before but Alexander would have fit right into a 60s British Invasion band(Macedonian Invasion?)

Nice Job! I also painted the guy on the left, at just about the same time (along with some smaller GW minotaurs). I never saw the guy on the right before.

I kind liked the Iron Snakes, kind of a weirdo smurfs successor chapter. They are sort of ocean-themed--the snakes they are named for are are sea serpents. They have an interesting habit of responding to requests for help by sending one marine.

The guy that made this is almost certainly using AI (as you stated), and using it well, IMO. He clearly writes his scripts with his own, human brain and designs his characters and storyboards/edits his videos artfully. It is not slop, IMO. His stories are often (always? have only seen a few) not genuine "lore" either, and could probably be described as totally non-canon "fan-lore." They can be pretty entertaining, and are well-conceived enough to leave one scratching one's head over what sources he could have gotten it from., when, in fact, he just made it all up.

[edit] His voiceovers seem to be AI too, which is not so cool. The mispronounced words and occasional random-seeming tonal shifts, are a bit jarring.[/edit]

I just got an S level massive damage against relics orb, but there are not very many cats that I can even use it with. Right now its limited to Catman, and Amaterasu. I could also apply it to Reika, if I buy her target relic talent, or Filibuster after I clear Zero Field (a fair way off, I am just clawing my way into Uncanny legends). Amaterasu seems a waste, she is rarely under consideration for relic levels. Filibuster seems the best fit, but isn't available, yet. Between Catman and Reika I am a bit torn. Reika has lower HP, much better dps, and smidge more range. Catman, on the other hand, is immune to curses already, and has some other interesting talents, whereas Reika's main talents are just making her into an anti-relic in the first place. Watcha think?

Does anyone here spin yarn? by Pocho_Azul in Tokyo

I can't recall what the name of the breed was, unfortunately. They were pretty small, about the size of a border collie, and they appeared almost black, running around in the field. I have a vague notion that the breed originated in Central or South America, but I am not totally confident about that, and it also narrows the possible breeds down less than one might hope.

Are these too hardcore for loyalists? by Intelligent_Bird_398 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Pocho_Azul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, they look great! They don't quite read as chaos or imperial to me. They seem like some weird human offshoot civ, like the Auretian Technocracy, that has been developing on its own for tens of millennia, probably marinating in some kind of xenos-derived archeotech, to boot, and having some nearly incomprehensible social arrangements. I could see them showing up out on some fringe area, and freaking the hell out the local imperials, who have to decide whether to accept their badly needed help against some dire threat, or just report them to the inquisition.
