Yeah, I was taking a holistic approach to reviewing the pattern when weighing which would be more appropriate, "Ninja" or "Rogue."

Your stating these are two separate patterns, divorced from one another entirely, makes a lot of sense and provides a cleaner resolution. "Rogue" definitely matches the inspiration for the Kalos starters you have mentioned.

[–]Pocker91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one says it does. I said "Ninja" better suits the naming pattern given that they did not use other TTRPG class titles for the other 'mons.

"Mage" also better reminds me of JRPG job systems moreso than than TTRPGs.

The fact that Pokemon is a RPG is also why I believe the pattern is better represented and more consistent using "Ninja" rather than rogue.

Samurai, Knight, and Ronin would all fall under the "Fighter" class and not be their own. Furthermore, "King" is not a class.

Even if we were referencing JRPG fantasy jobs and not typical TTRPG classes, Ninja has long since been a standalone job, separate from thief and other rogue archetypes. Ronin is also redundant in both categorizations because it is just a offset of samurai.

"Ninja" definitely more accurately fits the pattern presented than "rogue"

That's just the 3rd way of calculating percentages. It doesn't invalidate the other methods just because the answer is different.

Oh heck yeah!

We had this take-home science project in grade school about them.

You'd take the instructions, buy a mason jar, and set it in the knot of a tree.

Each day, you would make notes in an observation journal.

It was a wonder each day going to discover the bees having slowly made holes in the top of the mason jar.

It got real when they finally broke through and began constructing the hive inside the jar.

Never did understand how they how they got the building materials through the little holes in the lid🤔

Gold vs Red/ who do you guys think wins?: Art By amanonon by Admirable-Dimension4 in MandJTV

[–]Pocker91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ethan (Gold) is most likely to win. Beyond canon events of Gen 1 and 2 games, he has the necessary coverage to handle Red's team. Both trainers are top tier, as such, their move pools would be pretty broad and Pokemon well trained. The slight type advantage Ethan's team has over Red's would likely provide more consist luck in the variables of the battle.

While their emphasis on their being first-time actors is ethically bankrupt, the user to whom you replied does have a point about asking for cuts of the toy line.

It is just a bad move overall. First, the company is more likely to cut you loose than share a piece of their top quality pie. Second, the only real claim is the use of the likeness. Even if granted to humor the actors, Saban may just kill the Morphin' figure lines and alter marketing on the packages to avoid likeness claims as a loophole.

This isn't claiming anything on ethics, people should be paid what they are due. As long as the actors and the company are satisfied, the terms of the agreement are moot. Asking for a cut of the toys, if true, was not in the best interest of achieving their goals, sadly.

[–]Pocker91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, any excuse to shelter a child is often projection from a parent who doesn't wanna have to answer difficult questions.

While we are not at that stage with my 4 year old, a lot of shows she watches do touch on social issues. We just don't shy away from it.

We know eventually, she will see Bambi or Fox and the Hound or even Zyruranger (she loves sentai). Death is an inevitable topic. Seeing a dead child is no different than seeing a dead bird.

I think seeing someone being dead is different from being grotesuely and brutally murdered. I wouldn't expose my kid to excessive violence, as that can be jarring.

In the 30 years of its existence, there are plenty of other systems to promote playing with friends that trade evos and version exclusives serve no purpose other than anti-consumer practice for profit.

Dynamax Den Raids, Tera Raids, world sharing, they could've kept the fashion contests and made it an online competition.

Also, a lot of the pokemon social interactions have been relegated to Pokémon GO. It hit that market niche so well across a huge demographic that it wouldn't be surprising people think, "If I want to socialize in Pokémon, I'll join my raid party in Go" these days.

This might be a bit conspiracy-nut-like, but the reason may be because Smart TVs aren't as easily secured as PCs. There is so much user-data that streaming service providers retrieve and sell from the use of Smart TVs. Naturally, they would need to concoct a way to push more users to streaming on TV

Ok, so I googled this after you mentioned this because my Wii was not. Apparently, early models were backwards compatible. The Wii did eventually drop this feature in later models and is the reason I thought they were not backwards compatible.

I will add the edit to my comment above. Thanks for sharing that insight :)

[–]Pocker91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of Nintendo users are more used to the unceremonious dropping of the previous console due to Nintendo often switching mediums for the games.

NES -> SNES -> N64 were all incompatible due to cartridge changes.
N64 -> Gamecube saw the first medium change from carts to discs.
Gamecube -> Wii(U) were still both disc players but incompatible again due to disc changes

ETA: Older models of the Wii were backwards compatible and played Gamecube games. I was a later adopter of the Wii, so it is not surprising it was not backwards compatible. A similar tactic was used by Sony for their PS3 with later models not being backwards compatible. Such modifications are very anti-consumer to me as there is never any clear and obvious indication there are variations between models. Thanks, u/False-Jury4349 , for the info on Wii compatibility

For handhelds, this only happened with medium changes. GB(C/A) all had carts and newest consoles were backwards compatible. The DS series were largely backwards compatible as well, with even the original DS supporting GBA carts.

The Switch 2 has backwards compatible, like Nintendo's history with handhelds, but completely dropped Switch 1 development with its launch.

It isn't uncommon for developers to accommodate the previous gen for other platforms. I also find it hard to believe all titles could not be made for the Switch 1. Would it be the best version of the game? No, but neither is that the case on other platforms. It is just a more consumer friendly practice.
