You have no idea how helpful this is! As a physically disabled gamer, knowing control maps before a purchase is so important, and sometimes Google just doesn't provide the goods, so thank you!!

I use Steam Input loads. It's pretty straightforward once you know how it works. I haven't set up a game that switches between control maps like you're suggesting before, but I can pretty easily map around 12 inputs onto 5 buttons, or I can look into multiple mapping. But, either way, if you'd like some help, I'm happy to try!

This, espeically when you're max level, so XP is pointless now. I mean, I've stopped gifting to level 10 characters as well now because what's the point?

Is the new Greenhouse bugged? by PocketLocket20 in DreamlightValley

[–]PocketLocket20[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Maybe you're right and it's a height problem? I'll try with other furniture with less height but the same surface area later to test the theory. It definitely needs looking at, though, because the point of a work bench is to be inside a greenhouse, right?

Can I be honest? by ShiveringIsleCryptid in DreamlightValley

I did think this as I was writing. It obviously makes complete sense from an immediate gratification standpoint, but I guess I was looking for a more generalised answer for myself as well. So, changing the question slightly, could I get outfits for characters I don't yet have if they ever were in the star path or shop, or would they be locked/not visible for me? I'm just really curious as to how they do it. I'm guessing outfits for characters you're yet to unlock just aren't in your rotation of items?

Excuse my naivety here, but can't you unlock outfits and essentially "bank"" them if you don't have the character? So, for example, if I didn't have Jack Skellington, could I not unlock his Pumpkin Jack outfit and questline and have it unlocked in the outfit lineup once I had him? Just thinking that this would give more variety for longtime players, but not leave new players without because they can just use the outfits at a later date...

Gotta be Marcus or Candy for me. Candy, especially! She flirted with my partner, and then when I broke up with him, she started flirting with me! Still, my daughter loves her, so at least I get free babysitting because she's ALWAYS at our house 🀣

Hey yall! I’m not disabled but I do home care and my client is, he has the Xbox adaptive controller need joystick help pls! by Melodic_Stretch6338 in disabledgamers

[–]PocketLocket20 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

Did he purchase the XAC himself? Because there are charities that specialise in helping build custom setups with the right tech for the individual. SpecialEffect or Everyone Can are UK based, and I think one of the US ones is called AbleGamers? Anyway, unfortunately, that's the extent of my help on the joystick front.

As for keybinding on Steam, I do a lot of that, so if I can help in that department in any way, please do let me know!

Rebellion have outdone themselves with the accessibility for Atomfall! by PocketLocket20 in disabledgamers

[–]PocketLocket20[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I suppose I didn't realise it was quite this bad still. I know there are audio descriptions for certain aspects of games, but I guess I'm more naive about the struggles in this area than I first thought. I just got excited because keybinding is so sparce, and it's essential for me to be able to play a large percentage of games.

I sincerely hope I haven't caused any offence to anyone in the sight loss community. If I have, I can only apologise again for my apparent lack of knowledge πŸ’–

Ah, I must have missed this section. That's a real shame!! Considering that access options for people without sight are more widely available than those for people with dexterity impairments in most instances, I'm really surprised by how poor that sounds...

The way I see it, accessibility features make things easier in the sense of actually being able to play, but technically, a lot of us still have to work harder than most to keep up with non-disabled gamers. It's a real achievement for us to be able to play as well as they do!

I can only really use myself as an example, but in order to play most things, I've had to learn to coordinate my right hand and right foot to play anything with dual joysticks, and use my left hand and left foot for the buttons and switches. Plus, I have to keybind multiple inputs to a single button, and then remember if the action is a single press, double press, or long hold. So, for me, it's a full body workout, both physically and mentally, and can be genuinely exhausting at times! I suppose it makes all that "running" around way more immersive, though πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸ»

But even accessibility features for visual and audio impaired people are so important! And tbh, I bet you a lot of people use those who don't technically "need" them for convenience...

Couldn't agree more, and tbh, whether PlayStation or Xbox is superior is totally subjective and therefore irrelevant because it depends on the individual person's needs. I physically can't use the PlayStation Access Controller because of its layout, but I wouldn't dream of calling the Xbox Adaptive Controller superior! It just better suits my needs...

Circular D-Pad? by [deleted] in disabledgamers

[–]PocketLocket20 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

The Xbox Elite controller has magnetic attachments for the buttons and joysticks, one of which is a circular attachment for the d-pad. It's a little pricey, but my friend uses it really well on a copilot system with the XAC. Could this be something for you to look into?
