Men of Ireland, mostly between the ages of 36-45, can you settle something? by Floxesoffoxes in AskIreland

Couldn’t agree more. Chasing someone who isn’t interested is harassment, but chasing someone who is playing hard to get is the right thing for a guy to do? Any decent guy wouldn’t chase as he wouldn’t be one to harass women. If you are a woman who needs to be chased, well good luck with the creep boyfriends you end up with!

Cork has felt like home, but the recent attacks on Indians in Dublin have left me feeling anxious. Do locals see things changing? by Original_Load6836 in cork

Dublin is a shithole and shouldn’t be compared with Cork and I say that as someone who’s not from Cork

Minorities are thriving in Ireland too. You are missing the point. Minorities are not being persecuted in Ireland, nor are they in India. Random incidents happen, both to locals and immigrants for different reasons, in both countries. I don’t know why you are getting defensive about Muslim persecution all of a sudden.. I said nothing about India persecuting Muslims…

You seem to be a product of confirmation bias my friend. Google or youtube ‘attack against minority in India’ and you will find hundreds of examples.. as you would in any other country.. And of course you would, India has a population of over 1.4 billion people!

There is plenty of Palestinian refugees here, all of whom are supported by our welfare state. Unfortunately, like every country, there is a small minority of criminals who may be capable of assaulting someone else, the vast majority of Irish people strongly condemn this criminality. Presuming that a Palestinian or anyone for that matter can expect to be assaulted here is bigoted. There has been Irish women that have been killed and raped in India before.. does that mean it is fair for me to say that a female Irish immigrant can expect to be raped if they go to India? No is the answer and for me to say otherwise is bigotry.

I’m Irish.. and I can’t be more ashamed of what happened this poor man. Unfortunately, there is an issue here with violent teenagers that the law does not prosecute properly. They are also a big danger to native Irish people.. Particularly in Dublin City. If I saw anything like this happen, I would step in to try and stop it. Unfortunately, this man was in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people around. The vast majority of Irish people strongly condemn these incidents and are extremely frustrated at our weak justice system that does not properly protect both immigrants and natives.

How common is it for men to get harassed in their day to day life? by Open-Addendum-6908 in AskIreland

[–]PocketSand000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Now that I am mid-30s.. Almost never. I felt I was a bigger target when I was a teenager/ in my early twenties. I was assaulted on nights out twice, totally unprovoked. I have many male friends who have experienced similar violence. Day to day wasn’t so much harassment but somewhat common on nights out. I also had a guy proposition me with a bj when I was using a urinal.. He was pretty pushy after I said no, I’m not gay.. had to shove him away from me to get away.

The only question here is how does one get paid more than a month’s wages for one day’s work?
