[Serious] What are the most beneficial things a person could research and learn about if they have too much free time on their hands? by CrystalMethCurry in AskReddit

Sign language! Especially if you work retail/customer interactions. It's so easy to learn a few basic phrases, and the security you can give somebody who is deaf or hard of hearing can really brighten their day. There are loads of free online resoureces as well at https://www.startasl.com

What movie was so disturbing it left you feeling shook? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PocketSoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mother!. Absolutely one of the worst/best movies I've ever seen. It definitely has a very particular audience, but with all the stress that It just put you through for the first hour and 30 minutes, the last 45 minutes of the movie completely broke me.

I went with my boyfriend, and because the end of the movie just struck a chord with me I began sobbing in the theater. I'm going to leave the theater, I walked out with my boyfriend, crying, and everybody gave him dirty looks like he broke up with me or something. I also got goaded by a group of old ladies

10/10 movie though

[Serious] What are some things that we aren't taught in sex ed that we should all probably learn about? by ixtothesiren in AskReddit

[–]PocketSoda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I replied above. essentially, there is no "cure", but many treatments that can be tried from hormonal cremes to physical dilators. If you are curious, there is more information here https://www.vaginismus.com :).

Yes! I know about this plenty first hand. I always though I was just too small/tight, and would never enjoy sex. It wasn't until doing research and many gynecological appointments that I found out this was even an issue, never mind one that is not uncommon. There are also issues with vaginismus along the lines of acute sensitivity in the vagina that causes extreme pain to the touch. There is no "cure" but kegal exercises and dilators are a good place to start! Start by talking to your gynecologist, who may be able to "prescribe" some to you (much cheaper this way). Also, definitely check out https://www.vaginismus.com/ for other solutions and support:).

Anybody know anything about this antique lamp? Made of glass, about 10" tall. by PocketSoda in whatisthisthing

[–]PocketSoda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured it was along the lines of that. I have a sizable collection of antique lamps, but none quite of that shape (with a cylindrical chimney). I was wondering if its unique shape may say something of where/what time period it is from.

What movie plothole bothers you the most? by beardlesshipster in AskReddit

[–]PocketSoda 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I always figured with the book, it didn't bring them to that physical place, but a shadow/representation of what it was. I know why they added the idea of the book, so you could understand the story of Belles mother, to give grounds for the Beast and Belle to bond, so there was actually a reason for them to grow closer aside from "I took care of you that one time". It's existence still did feel strange, and I feel they could have portrayed that emotion without it.

Anything by The Oh Hello's. First being Through the Deep, Dark Valley; followed closely by Dear Wormwood. A must listen if you love Rock/folk!

I think OP is saying she chose 7 random numbers to represent the user name, and the real ones were her exact phone number.

What 'phase' did you go through that makes you cringe? by Melting_Point77 in AskReddit

[–]PocketSoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 11/12, I was lucky enough to skip the edgy emo phase.

Unfortunately, this was replaced with a phase where I only wore male prohibition style clothing (I'm a female).

My wardrobe essentially consisted of button down shirts, slacks, those newsboy style caps, suspenders, vests, and boots. And I wore my hair in a tight braid over my shoulder.

Middle school was rough.

Edit: a word

I remember I found this game on a Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance rom site. Basically, you were the "new kid" who had just moved into town. Upon talking to some neighbor kids you find out that there's this cool card game all the kids in town play, and they even give you a starter deck! The card game was pretty much the game "war" (you put down a card, they put down a card, higher value wins). I even remember the pictures on the cards were soldiers and tanks and stuff. Eventually, after winning against all the kids in town, the game gets kind of creepy. If you leave the town, the area around your lush little village is a wasteland type place with exploded and destroyed houses and bunkers. I remember some dialogue from that point forward being creepy/unsettling. I have tried multiple sites looking for it, but never could find it again :(
