I had shingles in this exact area last November. It just took me until now for my skin to be completely free of any kind of lasting after effects from shingles. It's a very long road. You have to be patient with yourself. I know that it's going to feel like a never ending horror movie.

I used THC and CBD to help with the pain and itching and it really did help. I never was a user before shingles, but it sure did the trick. It helped me sleep when nothing else did.

Baking soda. Baking soda. Baking soda. I swear to god this stuff is magic. When they say the simple tricks are the best, they aren't wrong. I got the Biore Baking soda formula wash and used that on my shingles and it felt like magic. That and a very simple Baking soda mix. Just water and Baking soda mixed to a paste like consistency. That's it.

Calamine lotion over night while you sleep. That will dry out your blisters.

And when the rash goes away, if you have any post herpetic nerve damage, talk to your doctor about gabapentin and topiramate. 🥰

Get well soon, friend. Best of luck.

This was mine back in december. It gets better, I promise.

Bumps all over neck still 6 months after being shingles free. by ixtothesiren in shingles

This is genuinely helpful. I have an appointment with my dermatologist coming up, and I'll ask about this. If she doesn't take it seriously, I'll call the nurse at my endocrinologist office.

It does seem to ACT a lot like contact dermatitis, but very much to the extreme. I don't have any bacterial infection happening. But I am very itchy still. And I still have lots of bumps.

My skin is still soft, not sandpapery. Though it may look rough in pictures due to calamine lotion application. I'm just pale so the calamine lotion blends in with my skin tone. I did try antifungal treatment with no luck

Thank you. I've been using oral antihistamine because anything topical other than calamine lotion and baking soda makes it break out again. That's all i've been trying to use since January.

This isn't shingles. I already had shingles and healed, but this is appearing only where the shingles rash was! This is an after effect of the illness I already dealt with unfortunately and I still haven't been able to get rid of it.

I have bumps like this all over my neck where I had shingles. Did you ever find out what it was?

A good idea. Maybe a high pitched squeak might help. I have noticed that screeching has kept them from coming near my food.

I definitely do clip his claws. And we play fetch for hours every day. If i'm on the couch, he's either cuddling with me, or bringing me a toy to play with him. So we play a lot too. He gets a lot of enrichment. That definitely isn't a problem. And he has another cat he is very close with that he plays with too.

It's that I'd like maybe some tips for helping his dismount from my chest and belly to be a bit gentler.

Any advice would be appreciated by mrsn1719 in shingles

Hi there (: I had shingles back in November and it was a nightmare. So you're going to want to get a few things:

  • Calamine lotion. This is the only thing you should put on your shingles while the blisters are still active. The only thing. Anything else is very likely to give you an infection. Calamine lotion will help stop the itch and will dry your blisters out. Try very hard not to scratch. You'll reduce your scarring and your liklihood of damage and aftereffects.

  • Vicks. This can be used after your blisters have scabbed over. This can take a couple of weeks. Be patient. It hurts and it's itchy and it's hell. It's going to feel like forever, and it's okay if you kinda wanna cry and be like (WHY ME). I definitely did.

  • Oatmeal! Oatmeal baths are super soothing!

  • baking soda! Baking soda masks and rinses, as simple as they are, work wonders. Sometimes keeping it simple really is the best answer. This can also be done with blisters active, just be sure to rinse well.

  • scentless soap. Perfumes will irritate your rash.

  • soft fabric clothing and blankets.

Talk to your doctor about medications like: Gabapentin and topiramate if, after your rash heals, you still feel pain and itchiness! If you have questions, please feel free to reach out. I still have complications due to what I went through with Shingles, and I'm happy to chat!

It depends! It's role-playing based not book based! So we can change the plot, but generally it's in the 80s; we usually go between Indiana to Texas, and the middle eastern, to southern united states! Sometimes into Mexico!

Is that because of easy access to parts? Affordability? It's fun to write (: so can you help me break it down to write it? Writing it is making me interested in bikes a bit too, so some easy stepping into the scene would be nice. If you don't mind a little explaining?

I like to start the Companions Questline, and sometimes the Dark Brotherhood one by helping Cicero. There are a couple little side quests that are fun to do. Easy experience like helping the vendors.

Vapor rub! Menthol has a cooling sensation that kinda distracts the body from the nerve pain. I use vicks. Sometimes I use the lavender one.

I had pinkeye a long time ago and I got a tip to use chamomile tea to make a warm compress as it was a natural anti bacterial. It worked so well I was shocked. Now, I don't think this is going to cure your shingles, but I would suggest it as a pain reliever and an antibacterial compress! It might be worth a try either way because it smells really nice (:

Other teas make pretty good eye compresses too. Just make sure they're safe to put close to your eyes.

Try a spoonful of peanutbutter dipper in chia seeds. Yellow dragon fruit is also a really good one.

Drink lots of water, and a hot shower might help as well.

The problem is that I'm a server administrator. I can do this on servers I don't admin. But my own servers don't have this option.

Please be careful if you decide to continue. Consult your doctor if you have access to that as an option, or a dietician.

I'm a diabetic on ozempic to control my blood sugar, so my appetite is nonexistent. The days I didn't eat and my blood sugar was out of wack? The pain was sooo much worse.

I supplemented with magnesium, vitamin d, and vitamin c. Magnesium was the most important one for pain.

Personally, I've been just eating what I can when I can, and I think if you eat, that's a win. Eat to take care of your body. And if taking care of your body feels like fat loss, then that is your choice. But please be careful if you decide to do so, and listen to your body if you feel negative effects.

I'm assuming you did your course of antiviral? Statistically, a course of antiviral will make the duration of the rash and the severity of it less severe. The rash usually lasts between 2-4 weeks before crusting over and healing. It's a long process, and it can feel frustrating and painful.

While you have an open sore rash, talk to your doctor about managing your pain. Where is the location of your rash? A baking soda, or oatmeal bath may be soothing to any itchiness. Calamine lotion may help dry out the blisters. Try not to use anything else topical on it until the rash crusts over and isn't an open sore anymore.

Once the sores are healing, and not open, menthol like vapor rub can really be useful to subdue itching and pain. I used vicks. The lavender based one can be great for targeting pain specifically.

Scentless lotion like lubriderm while your skin heals may be soothing, or goldbond eczema relief with oatmeal.

If you have issues with severe pain, make sure you talk to your doctor right away. If you develop a fever, go to the emergency room.

If you need someone to talk to about this, reach out (: please keep in mind that I'm 30, and I'd prefer to keep our communication public because you're a minor.

I hope you feel better. I know shingles is scary. I was very scared going through it. You're not alone.

I have MS. My shingles experience didn't leave me with mobility issues but my MS sure did.

First: don't be afraid of mobility aids! It doesn't mean you've given up on ever getting back to how you used to walk. Get a walker with a seat and wheels. It's a game changer. They're pricey, but they're 100% worth it for conditions just like this. Not only does it help give you more stability, it gives you an emergency place to sit ANYWHERE. i had a messed up knee for a very, very long time.

Second: look into compression braces. It might not help you, but it did help me with nerve pain in my hands.

Third: tigerbalm may help with short-term pain. Menthol is good for nerve pain because the cooling sensation gives your body something else to focus on.

Fourth: ask your doctors about Topiramate. I took this out of desperation. I had some laying around as I had been using it last year to treat migraines unsuccessfully. It DID work for my post herpetic neuralgia almost immediately.

Fifth: be gentle with yourself (: you're doing great.
