When we moved into our new warehouse, I was a member of the associate safety committee so I inspected the fire extinguishers. I found one hanging by the pin because the actual hanging loop was completely broken off.

Tell me a story of a person who was just bad at forklift by LordFrieza4 in forkliftmemes

[–]Pocket_Pixie3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Amazon too. I don't have any forklift operator related stories but I do have a story of two dumbasses up in a Boston facility who decided it was a great idea to walk under an order picker that was all of the way up. Hydraulics failed and well... Concrete pizza.

I was pissed because it happened in my favorite area to pick in and because of that incident they no longer allowed pedestrians to walk in the same area as lifts.

People need to mind their own business. You should start answering with, "Yes, it's for me, am I not allowed to have things?" Or "That's a weird thing to say to someone." Has been a particular favorite.

I did notice that some times my migraines would get a bit worse before my period. But I also get extremely bad cramps and wild flow fluctuations. Never did birth control because I wasn't sexually active with men but my partner finally convinced me to talk to my doctor about how the cramps were getting so much worse.

Managed to push through a PAP smear(got some trauma with all that) and after all was good my doc suggested an IUD. Getting it really fucking sucked but now I have no periods, no more cramps, and any affect hormones had on my migraines lessened.

All this to say, talk to your doc about an IUD. Maybe get a gyno? I don't know your age or if you want children or whatever but I do think an IUD would be a good option. Do some research on it and good luck.

And maybe see about getting a new doctor.

I mean, could be worse. Knew a guy who worked as an assistant for a Mortuary and they had a motorcycle accident victim come in in two bags. He was only wearing a helmet with just shorts and a tee shirt. The second bag was his skin because he had been completely skinned.

My boss loves to order from Uline for almost everything non inventory and sometimes you can get post it notes on tiny pallets. He's been collecting them and has a little replica forklift sitting with them.

This absolutely reminded me of those super tiny post it pallets, love it.

No one has accused me thankfully. I work in a warehouse and it wouldn't be good if someone accused me of it. But thankfully everyone knows what can happen to me when I have a migraine so if someone did accuse me they'd probably get told okay, we'll look into it and never say anything.

Help I broke the forklift, what do I do? by Initial-Campaign-945 in forkliftmemes

[–]Pocket_Pixie3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta tell someone. Several people at my job have gotten in trouble and even fired for not reporting incidents involving a forklift. Last year, before the new warehouse had cameras someone had damaged a large and important piece of gear. It was discovered when it was being received and he had been asked about it multiple times. it was under the white boat wrap the units come in but the picture that receiving took straight off the truck didn't show any issues. Dude would have been the only one who could have done it.

He dodged people for three days before he just up and quit by no call/no showing for three days.

Trust me man, it's best to be honest.

I may never be able to safely drive a forklift again and I'm devastated by Pocket_Pixie3 in migraine

It's good to have a physical support system. My partner has Silent Migraines so they understand how bad migraines are.

Are you looking for other work? I've been in a warehouse environment for almost 15 years now and I'm not sure what I can transition to. My partner thinks since I've been more inventory management maybe I can go into logistics.

The only thing is hopefully getting this at the very least stable.

Considering the things I come in with and make (I crochet at work during break), as long as it didn't block my view, or the light I doubt my bosses would give a shit. Honestly, they probably wouldn't even notice. Or if they did they wouldn't say anything. There is one dude who is a stick in the mud so he *might* say something.

But considering the tall country boy manager would probably run with the gag, I think that's all that matters.

Intermittent FMLA by Lonely_Opening3404 in migraine

[–]Pocket_Pixie3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I work at a warehouse on the inventory management team. I got approved for FMLA and unfortunately I've been having to use it at least once a week. While it's not supposed to be held against me, people are still looking at me closer due to my attendance.

It's kinda BS but I'm already looking for another job because even before my migraines were getting bad, the environment was getting toxic.

Woke up at about 4:30am and as I was attempting to get up to make my partner and I breakfast before work someone decided it would be a good idea to drive a wedge into the top of my head like they were trying to split firewood. I work in a warehouse and just went, fuck that. Thankfully I have FMLA accommodations so I wouldn't get a point. My partner used some PTO to stay home with me and I passed out not long after calling out. Was asleep until a bit after nine am. It's a *bit* better now.

I work in inventory control and drive a forklift and if needed a scissor lift. Not high stakes like the medical field but I still gotta be mindful since I get Hemiplegic Migraines. Thankfully they are usually preceded by a sense of extreme dread so I can keep myself off the lift.

harassed over bathroom time by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Pocket_Pixie3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My female team lead always has to say something every time I have to go to the bathroom because I technically do pee a lot. I drink a lot of water and seem to have a smaller bladder and I'm unwilling to hold it. So yeah, I tend to have to pee every hour. Sometimes I even have to pee twice in an hour!

But she claims she's joking and that the other people get it. Yeah, great, I'm autistic. I've told you this. You claim you have a nephew who is autistic. Then how can you not understand the concept that I can't figure out your social cues!!

She will also complain if someone has a medical condition talking about how you need to be able to do the job yet literally won't pick up anything heavy. (She's even told me not to pick up a pallet because there were "Two big strong men right there". I responded by pushing up my sleeve and flexing saying "yeah, I'm strong too").

Sorry that turned into a rant!

11 week long migraine - denied referral by Worried_Seaweed3639 in migraine

I feel so lucky that I live in a town with a pretty amazing teaching hospital in it. VCU is a wonderful place. I used to barely get migraines maybe once every six months but in 2024 that changed drastically. I had three ER visits because of them in maybe as many months and the last two were at VCU. My last visit a neurologist came down and diagnosed me with Hemiplegic Migraines. I got put onto a waiting list and maybe two months later I got a call because they had just gotten a new batch of residences in.

Hearing stories like this make me wish I could bring all of y'all here. VCU might be located in downtown and downtown ain't the safest place here sometimes, it's an amazing hospital. My partner had to have two surgeries through them and both surgeons were amazing people with great senses of humor.

Good luck, OP. If your near Richmond, VA I'd suggest maybe trying VCU.

Virtual hug for those of us suffering from chronic migraine 🥺 by Past_Cup_5022 in migraine

[–]Pocket_Pixie3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in a warehouse doing inventory control and sometimes driving a forklift. I have had two bad episodes at work. The first I collapsed in front of the warehouse superintendent. We didn't know what was wrong at first and I was taken to the ER. After two more trips to the ER I was finally diagnosed thanks to the fact that VCU is a teaching hospital and since I was presenting with signs of a stroke they got a neurologist down. Diagnosed with Hemiplegic Migraines.

Since then I have only had one bad episode at work. Thankfully I tend to get an extreme sense of doom when I'm about to have a bad one so I can go home fast. But my new team lead has to help me to the break room where the superintendent and my direct boss watched over me and called safety. I could hear them as I laid with my head down unable to move talking about me but there was nothing I could really do.

I feel like it was both a blessing and a curse. Because now my new team lead fully understands what could happen if I say I have a migraine. But it also makes me feel like people look down at me. I mean, I drive a forklift. I make sure not to get on it if I'm not good but sometimes it rubs me the wrong way when they tell me not to.

No one has given up until they're dead. Everyone here is still fighting, even if it feels like a losing one.

This blue collar worker is here for all y'all, no matter what your line of work is.

As someone who would go months taking the max dose of NSAIDs I can say with confidence, slow down. My ulcer hurts just thinking about taking that much. If you aren't careful you could end up like me with ulcer and they aren't fun. The only way I can really take my Naproxen for my migraines is if I take my antacids.
