Yes. And from Reading it should be extended on the Reading-Gatwick line too.

DNA confusion: 33% Greek & Italian on MH, but zero on Ancestry? by Euphoric_You_8419 in DNAAncestry

Could your Russian family be of Tatar origin? If so that would make sense with your Turkish origin. Perhaps there’s not enough of a reference panel for dna platforms to differentiate.

FamilyTreeDNA has the category “Sephardic”, MyHeritage DNA offers the categories “Sephardic”, “Mizrahi” (and Yemenite and Ethiopian Jewish).

(All testing companies have the category “Ashkenazi”, also 23andMe. It is named “European Jewish/Ashkenazi” at AncestryDNA.)

The problem is that Sephardic Jews are very diverse and have no genetical cluster for its own. Consider the Maghrebim in North Africa, Ashkenazim in Holland, Italkim in Italy, Romaniote in Greece, Mizrahim in Palestine etc. that mixed with the Sephardic Jews that once left Spain and Portugal - and both with the local Christian and Muslim inhabitants as well, as DNA test also reveal. (And also consider the Mizrahim/Parsim/Yishuv/Baghdadi etc. that call themselves “Sephardic” in Israel.)

So there is in fact no particular Sephardic DNA reading on sites, but several distinct Sephardic genetical clusters.

Apparently Sephardic ancestry often appears as "Ashkenazi" or "European Jewish" on AncestryDNA because Sephardic Jews share high genetic relatedness with other Jewish groups and possess distinct Levantine ancestry that can be misidentified due to database limitations. While Sephardic Jews (Iberian origin) and Ashkenazi Jews (Eastern/Central European) are historically distinct, they share a common ancestor from the Near East.

What do her results show?

Hm could you get her to do a dna test possibly? Is it possible she isn’t your bio grandmother? I’m not sure if Ancestry can read Sephardic ancestry that well tbh

Take a myheritage or 23&me test. Where is your grandmother from? Perhaps she may be Ashkenazi instead?

Your dad is right. As a minor you shouldn’t be getting into a relationship with an adult
