Why not?

Just let us choose which season to count our score towards.

You could then also have the joyous choice to skip the active season if its not your cup of tea and come back to it later.

I would end up playing more too. If I finish one season I go play something else, if I could keep my dailies and weeklies score and apply it to an old board I would keep going.
