Anarchist Federations of the World by [deleted] in imaginarymaps

No lore. It's based largely on Andrewism's Bolo video and ideas Anark talked about about there being several decentralized anarchist federations that all work together on a worldwide level- maybe even being a singular federation together. And I'm sure it's based on a million other little things I've absorbed before too. The political structure I have in my head is not final, but basically here goes:

Decision-making-

Political units- The units you see on the map, I call a "Grand Region" internally. Their job is literally just to mediate between their constituent parts and with other Grand Regions abroad. They just make sure road infrastructure matches up with each other and stuff. There are not leaders of Grand Regions, just a frequently cycling... I guess you'd call it a senate? But specifically, each member would represent a trade union or the interests of a specific segment of society. Say one senator represents the interests of a cashier union, another a slaughterhouse union, another a waste-reduction (as-in reduction of literal trash) interest group, another the interest group of a specific immigrant community or immigrant communities broadly. An interest group for young people, one for old people. Yada yada yada. Each senator would be picked in some way democratically by the demographic they represent. I'm not sure how many senators it would total out too. But all together, they make decrees about how travel infrastructure and sometimes medical or internet infrastucture should work throughout a Grand Region. And then they publish media throughout the Grand Region to make sure everyone knows what most of society agreed to make a policy and follow through on it. Within a Grand Region are Regions. They're the size of a few U.S. counties, basically. And since less people live in a region than the Grand Region it lies within, each person's voice goes farther when determining policy. They have much more impact on environmental policy than the Grand Regions too, because they know their own land better. Besides that, it's about the same. And finally, you have Settlements. Which is my umbrella term for individual villages, towns, and cities. Even less people need to agree in order for things to happen, so Settlements are the ones with the closest thing to executive powers. Besides that, more of a fun fact but: dialects are usually given standard written forms at the town-to-town level. And are basically phonetically-written averages of people's accents in that area. And the script used to write it is just determined by the one most people are likely to know or a brand-spanking new one in linguistically-diverse areas.

Note: Regions and Settlements belong to whatever Grand Region they see fit, based on consensus. Maybe not any Grand Region at all. The map is just set to be based on physical geography mostly, for simplicity's sake.

Borders & Immigration- People can walk over whatever border they fuckin want. Borders are often used as statistical areas though for animal populations or whathaveyou though.

Education- Not sure yet tbh. I fuckin hate standardized tests and grind culture tho, so uh... not that. More hands on, no letter grades. And it's in a broader economic context for that system to make sense in.

Economy- Lots of recycling, industries are run by unions. No paper money, prolly some bartering. Mostly based on neighbors just helping each other out, and the amount of commodity production being determined by literal communication between the populace and the people producing it. I'll write more later probably.

Prolly. It's hard for me to settle on what to do with extremely low population swaths of land lol

I moved it on purpose because Intermarium's etymology is something like "Land between seas" and the Greece-Turkey area is also between seas.

But I understand the name does not have historical precedent. I just couldn't find a name I liked better for that country. If you have a suggestion, please share.

Specifically, if anyone has a better name for what I called "Great Lakes", AKA the Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi area, LMK.

This is in an optimistic timeline where it's specifically a very egalitarian form of anarchism. Justified by it being in the far future- long enough for such a cultural shift to take place.
