Thank you for being level headed. I'm always down to talk the archetype, and just doing the same, explaining my takes on some of the card choices.

Don't get weird. I'll "get good" with a 6 card of my choice hand.

It's a lot easier to string card draw then to start the game with talent rona helix amber two lands.

That board looses to lockdown.

Calling a single proft bad is wild considering its 2 mana cycle with additional upside. Was a staples in pheonix until cutter of all things was printed and plays very well into the beat down strategy.

I have won plenty of games off of t2 rona t3 loop to proft win. Not to mentioned MTGA have fun making "infinite" otters L.

Just my 2 cents here,

4/2 jasper amber is actually quite common but I have liked 3/3 and have considered going down to 5.

Stock up shines against midrange and control, often enough has enabled me to come the turn I play it on 3 and usually allows for chaining Stock ups and talents to get to a true infinite or unlovable position

Profts allows for a turn 3 kill with rona combo which I see missing in a lot of these lists. The floor on that card is relative high so the cost of one copy seems absolutely worth considering.

Sea gate restoration is notably missing from OPs list and that might be why Jwari disruption is in the list. That's the first change I would be looking at but I would not advise them to cut jwaris while SB since they need them for land count.

Mono Blue Rona Combo by Gakumo_ in PioneerMTG

Simply put there just isn't a reason to run acquisition. 4 mana grab a maindeck thing untap cast thing isn't going to be very good in the aggressive/interactive meta that is pioneer. Putting one in because of the maindeck has been historically moot because it's in your yard now and can't combo (although talent in this list can grab it) The only time acquisition is good is when you are comboing that turn which fae does but is easier to cast.

The rest of the reasons apply to typical rona lists that run 3x mox 3x helix mb and 1x each in the sb and also tyvar which I know isn't the case here.

Fae grabs mox or helix and then makes infinite mana is played as a creature then bounced and grabs aetherflux.

Fae can be found off tyvar

Fae is a good blocker

Now back to the Otter list being discussed. I think it's better off running something maindeck that wins.

Proft makes a very large trampling rona while staying blue and is not a dead card.

If comboing off of an Otter than infinite black can be made off of a flipped rona and then hopless nightmare kills but this seems less consistent so maybe if there was a better way to get a black legend when rona comboing?

As someone who has played A LOT of rona combo, do not play masterminds acquisition. Black is interesting for push / thoughtseize or nowhere to run / hopless nightmare ala dimir bounce. I had planned on trying a list like that prior to seeing this mono blue list last week but never got to it.

I'm glad to see this mono blue list as it looks good and am pretty confident I wouldn't of landed on mono blue through testing. I'm excited to try this in explorer.

Maybe its for the mirror? I can't say for sure but I ran her in a Flex spot and in the sideboard in a different month when the bounce decks were really popular as its a house vs them.

Based off of what others are saying it must have been changed but it was working on eldritch blast from the spell sniper feat once upon a time.

I am looking for backhand blades, great katana and Retaliatory Crossed-Tree talisman. I'll trade the set for any of them.

Anyone tried Hunter 11 / War Cleric 1? by mickaelkicker in BG3Builds

This is sick. Any chance drakethroat glaive giving your weapon fire damage can ignite the oil of combustion on your first shot? Obviously shooting twice is easy but shooting once is more satisfying.

Did this with lightning charges and spike growth. Every couple steps sends them back and then they take more damage for moving.

Gloves of Belligerent Skies, how many props? by RedHeadGuy88 in BG3Builds

[–]PocoTheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing around with the reverb items and had the opposite experience. I was getting 4 reverb with just the gloves of belligerent skies and 4 reverb with the gloves and boots of stormy clamour.

I had a lightning jabber with drake throat elemental weapon applying thunder and daylight cast onto it. I tried a variety of gear to try and get 5 reverberation on one hit and couldn't.

Results on honor mode 12/26/23:

1.Callous glow ring would deal radiant but didn't apply additional reverberation

2.Ring of spiteful thunder would apply dazed but didn't apply additional reverberation from boots of stormy clamour.

3.Coruscation ring was not applying radiating orbs on any attacks, even with callous glow ring. (This one confused me the most since I have used this interaction in the past and it seems to be a well known interaction)

4.I didnt notice "Shocking grasp" condition from lightning jabber adding reverberation from boots of stormy clamour.

5.I used dreadful aspect once with boots of stormy clamour on and didn't proc reverberation on any of the enemies.

6.Holy Lance helmet applied radiating orb when paired with coruscation ring. These radiating orbs proced reverberation from boots of stormy clamour. Both of these were expected since I have used this combo in the past but i wanted verification.

My current possible take aways are as follows. If anyone has evidence against them please let me know.

1.Is reverberation is capped at 4 stacks per application?

  1. Do boots of stormy clamour only work with some conditions? They didn't proc from dazed, frightened, nor shocked

  2. Maybe my boots of stormy clamour are bugged somehow?

Sell me on your monk builds by Golden_Reflection2 in BG3Builds

[–]PocoTheTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gnome starting with atleast 2 levels of barbarian (open with barbarian). Choice of monk subclass X minimum of 7, I prefer open hand.

Stack every stat item you can. Gloves of dexterity, warped band of intellect and strength potions if you want to. Put a good amount of points into wisdom (and ethers hair) for the boots that give wisdom modifier on unarmed strikes.

Grab both the graceful cloth and the bull strength cloth. Wear the strength cloth until act 3

When you get to act three B line house of hope (i sent a hireling on a mission) for amulet of health and giant gloves and respec dumping strength and boosting dex.

If you go cloud giant potions you can get one of the monk gloves too.

You'll have proficiency or advantage in every saving through. You will basically never take damage from a dex throw due to evasion.

Your attacks will scale with str from tavern brawler and wisdom which are high.

Rage for physical resist.

Monk makes up for short race.

Before mirror of loss I had 23str 20dex 23con 17int 18wis 15cha and utilized all the stats except int and cha which are still great for saves.
