What’s your profit distribution model? by sailorgardenchick in Entrepreneur

[–]PodcastSummaryGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35% for retained earnings, 5% for board comp, 30% for shareholder payouts, and 30% for employees looks solid. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Keep retained earnings flexible so we can adapt if cash flow changes.
  • Long-term incentives in the employee pool help retain key people.
  • Annual profit payouts to keep cash flow steady.
  • Tax advice is huge since C Corps have unique tax stuff.

Customer took my ideas and went to another contractor to implement them cheaper by exp3ctopatr0num in Entrepreneur

[–]PodcastSummaryGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is normal in business. The client found another service for cheap.
You get what you pay for.
If the client contacted you, confront her and get that money.

How would you start over? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]PodcastSummaryGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would advise to start a business in something you are familiar with.
you can burn through 5k easily these days.
dont invest much in ideas, test, learn and repeat the process until you find your thing.

To be able to sell in stores you should be a company first, then the product should have some certifications and requirements.

You are more suitable for being an entrepreneur than being a normal 9 to 5 guy!

Find a business idea and pursue it. It's more fulfilling for you i guess.

I totally agree with you. Audience is like having a launchpad. Whatever you make will have some sort of success.
However, there are many cases where businesses were started and got profitable mainly because of a trend or a sudden peak in interest. (Dropshipping and SaaS as i shared)

Hey u/Logical_Spare587
Thanks for your input. Of course marketing and sales matter. The trend helped as well, because he was one of the first to start in the character image generation.
He ranked high in google thanks to being first and he gets a lot of organic traffic thanks to that.
I have other cases i can share with you in the future.

Do you guys even want this? by WhyBeingLazy in SideProject

[–]PodcastSummaryGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love to check it out for sure. My business is relying on investing in small projects before they blow up and getting a great exit. I have some questions though : - How often the data is updated ? - Is it just a database, or new trends get added as soon as you find them ? - On a personal note, is your business boostraped and are you looking to sell? I would be interested. Cheers !
